My Heritage
« on: August 23, 2019, 11:45:49 AM »
Anyone else on Getbig submitted their DNA to My Heritage for testing? They test for health conditions as well as ethnicity.

The results of my DNA health test are mixed. The one condition I am at the least risk for is the one condition I actually have, which is macular degeneration. The one condition I am at the highest risk for is late onset Alzheimer's. -Hope it's very late in coming. There are 11 conditions I am at average risk of getting. Some make sense and others don't. Good news for my kids, there are 13 conditions I am not likely to be a carrier of and none where I am a carrier.

The ethnicity results are as expected and are consistent the results from a Ancestry DNA test. The one missing piece is that my maternal grandmother was French. It is possible that her ancestry was actually English since the British settled Brittany, which is where she was born and raised.

Here's my ethnic breakdown:

88.9%
English

7.8%
Finnish

3.3%
Irish, Scottish, and Welsh

My Heritage is likely a secret organization using people’s DNA to frame them for crimes.

What could go wrong? One is only giving an Israeli company, who had 92,000,000 customers hacked in 2018, access to their genetic code.

Nope. I still like to cling to whatever bits of privacy we still have left. Doesn't matter though, soon we'll be socially engineered and technologyed out of all of it.

No, but someone from one of those companies said that if they suspect someone is "racist" they will put that on their DNA chart.  So much for science. ::)

I don't put a lot of stock into it. At least not the health part now that I've seen their generalized results. It was interesting that macular degeneration is the one condition I wasn't a risk for and yet it is the one condition of those listed I have. Ass backwards!

My DNA breakdown:

50% English
50% Italian

The Italian is broken down into 2% total of my DNA being North African.

I am also 3.5% Neanderthal.

As an oppressed African Neanderthal, I resent social justice.

Why am I not surprised that you are 3.5% Neanderthal, which is an extinct subspecies of homo sapiens?
