2019 Olympia - Rumors - Don't believe them!

Ron (Edit) - We know where some of these rumors are coming from, and it is amazing how far some people will go to create some negative spin, but it is frustrating to have people think this. The Olympia is happening, and I will see you there from Thursday to Sunday!

I have it on good authority that there have been high level IFBB meetings and teleconferences about canceling this year’s Olympia. This information comes straight from the wife/GF of one of the top IFBB/AMI guys. The reasons given is that ticket sales are absolutely horrid and they are expecting to lose more than $1M+ unless something changes.

With Kai confirmed to be out, this is shaping up to be something less than the Arnold Classic, except the Arnold sells out. Ticket sales are so bad that one of the show promoters is rumored to be getting fired/demoted as well. Manion not happy.

Hell! The Olympia has made enough money these past few years to continue it into 2025.(I think!)

It may be possible that you ae hearing stories about the new guys stepping in to make it more profitable.

Remember when ESPN had bodybuilding contests on and even a show on how the pro's train?  Then it seemed after one meeting it was all gone. The bodybuilding time slot was replaced with billiards competitions. Insecure guys that flocked to bodybuilding now flock to MMA fights. Instead of going to bodybuilding gyms they go to jui jitsu dojo's.  Bodybuilding's deep secret of using drugs to get muscles way beyond an athlete's muscles is just  common knowledge now. Regular people don't give a damn about a sport based on drug use. No drugs equal no sport. I know every drug using bodybuilder likes to think athletics wouldn't exist without drugs but deep down they know the truth. Only one sport wouldn't exist without drugs and that's bodybuilding.

Won't happen especially with all of the VIP tickets that have been sold out

Agree that this won’t happen. It would scream out, “Bodybuilding is Dying.” If there are money issues, they will prop it up and then maybe find a new buyer who could give it more life.
