To be fair to him at least he doesn’t hide  :)

Anyone thats in here and choose to expose himself should be able to take criticism, period.

Your guy was out of shape on that fight. You are a S&C Coach. He won the fight, he knocked the guy out, but was out of shape. Or wasn't?

Lol... your ignorance is mind boggling. You obviously don’t know the difference between what the S&C guy as opposed to skill. Go read a book, watch a few fights, go to bed...lol

You can clearly  see it was a nose poke and not an eye poke. Kongo's eye was swelling because he got punched in the eye.
Maybe we need instant replay in MMA. Review the incident and let the fight continue.
Beltran fucked up.

Even Wiki has NC (accidental nose poke).  :D

Whether it was an eye poke or not, Kongo did not come out of this will. Communicating with people over here all thought that he just quit. He realized that Bader was too much for him but didn't want to lose by getting beat up. Yes, the referee stopped the fight but that's only because Kongo said he couldn't see. Nobody believes that. His vision may have been fuzzy but guys have fought on with much worse. I once continued with a match when my elbow got dislocated giving my opponent his deserved victory and me an honorable defeat. With that much at stake, he should keep fighting even if he had one eye. Randy Couture kept fighting, and lost, to Ricco Rodriguez with a detached retina. Remember Uriah Faber and Rick Franklin fighting on, and winning with a broken hand?

It's often a man's heart, and not just strength and skill, that wins the victory and makes him a champion.

It was the first round. He’s gotten out of a lot worse situations. There was only 1:14 left in the round and he clearly wasn’t getting hit hard enough to get KO’d in any realm of the imagination

“Ryan Bader entered the main event of Bellator 226 as one of the hottest heavyweights in the world and his torrid streak continued on Saturday night. For a few minutes, that is.

Bader (28-5) retained his Bellator MMA heavyweight title after dominating fellow Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Cheick Kongo, but his win was as anticlimactic as they come. Bader rocked the Frenchman with two left hooks to the jaw and then took him down. Kongo (30-11-2) tried like crazy to get back to his feet, but the powerful wrestler used a tremendous amount of pressure to keep his challenger down.

However, with Bader on top against the cage, “Darth” accidentally poked Kongo in the left eye. From there, referee Mike Beltran called in the cageside doctor, who deemed Kongo unable to continue. With that ruling, since it was an accidental foul, the fight was declared a “No Contest,” allowing Bader to retain his title. The fight ended officially at 3:52 of the first”. - Sherdog

This being said and reported. I guaranfuckingtee Bader didn’t want to stand with Kongo especially since the majority of his wins came from KO’s.

Bader won’t take a rematch with Kongo because he wants to stay as a lightheavy not to mention already beat an undefeated Minakov and was on an 8 fight win streak with several first round KO’s. Baders a chump

I know you have a vested interest in this so I understand. To me it looked like he was getting beaten up and if it went on like that for another minute or so it's not inconceivable that it would have been stopped. Not being on the receiving end I can't comment if Bader was hitting him hard. Whatever the case may be, Kongo was not perceived well. With so much at stake you'd think he want to go to the death on this. He's 44 years old and now has to go back in line.

BTW, I think I've seen most, if not all, of his big fights and don't recall any great comeback where he turned things around when he seemed about to be buried.

Why is Bader a chump? I don't think he gets to choose his opponents and no one is calling or wants to see a rematch. And what does it matter if he wants to stand with Kongo. Why should he when he has a better chance on the ground?

Oh I know Kongo clearly lost the first round. He was trying to make his way up the cage from a seated position while he was getting hit...but he would have went into the second round with some ground to make up

Also pellis, I apologize I didn’t mean to come off condescending to you

No, not at all. You have a personal relationship with him and are privy to insider info that the rest are not. I'm just saying that whatever truth I don't think he came out looking good to the fans and that will hurt his chances for a rematch and interest in him as a fighter and ticket/PPV sales draw.

Anyway, enjoy the O this year. It's all Brandon or Roelly. I think Brandon has better lines but Roelly is a crowd favorite and they need someone who will be popular with the fans.

Agreed - He Didn’t Want any more - Fact
He could’ve said to the Ref he was Ok.
Not I can’t see - he wanted an out & took that Route.

He was your Man coach - Only he wasn’t going to come back & Win,
Come on - You Know he Quit & took the opt out “I can’t see”
If he’d wanted to continue he would’ve - Only he didn’t.
There’s no good reason for a Rematch - He Quit / got ref to stop the Fight.

It’s good to be loyal & supportive that I get, Only sometimes you got
Admit when you’re man’s Beat / Quit’s.
That’s No reflection on you as it was his Choice not yours.

His payday would have been a $1mil (as for Bader) he has a few fights left in his career....he’s not going to throw the fight for that kind of $$$

What’s money got to do with it when his Heart goes out The Fight.
Just like Joshua quit against Ruiz & Far More Money & Status at Stake
His 1st Big Fight In MSG And He quit - He’d had enough his Heart
Wasn’t in it anymore.
