SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR TRANSPORT IN SWEDENAs it was advised by several our clients – transport companies, specialising in deliveries of goods to/from/within Scandinavia,
safety in Southern part of Sweden has got much worse during the last year.
The number of thefts has increased significantly even several stories of armed robberies had been heard.
The main problem is that Scandinavia has been classically considered as a safe country and that the infrastructure does not match the current situation - there are relatively few secure (fenced and physically guarded) parking spaces, they have limited space and often are full (all public parking lots along the highways can be considered unsafe). Parking lots on highways E4 and E6 are particularly dangerous.
At the same time police patrols are minimal and the reaction of police, when the theft had been reported to them, can very often be considered as formality and in most cases the police is not even visiting the site, where the theft took place.
All that creates a certain sense of freedom for potential criminals.
The whole of southern Sweden, including Stockholm and its surroundings, can be considered as particularly insecure. In order to improve risk, transport companies plan their logistics so that shipments are delivered directly from terminal to terminal, without stops in the southern part of Sweden.
