I have seen him compete in his prime. His lat spread with that narrow waist was absolutely freaky. He was completely ripped to the bone. He wasn't a big man but wow he looked big on stage. Very few faults with many outstanding attributes. He use to call leg extensions suicides. Something like 6 sets of 20 reps done with little rest between sets.

Saw him at the Olympia, he couldn't weigh any more than 170 soaking wet but the guy is still in great shape

Friends for 30 years. Good man.  Never cared for his "Michael Jackson of Bodybuilding" thing but whatever. Crazy V-taper.  Cool lines. Trained by feel and by pump.

In a blatant attempt to hijack this thread, Ron Tuefel trained for the America at Ed Ryan's Gym in suburban Philly. The gym is still there, and it's a time capsule from the 70's

Did he die of Cirrhosis? I know he loved Vodka in w/ his Weider protein. Too bad, he was great back in the day.

I don`t remember how he died but I think you may be right.......I believe I remember rumors of his heavy drinking.    ???
