His hand is covering his umbilical hernia. That protruding belly button that made him lose to Rhoden.

Phil looks great there and PROVES that genetics is a huge part of this thing (BB)
Absolutely have no doubt he was natural in this pic - but has great structure. That’s ONE way a champ must have great genetics. The other is the “Genetic response to AAS” - anyone who doubts this has no business giving an opinion.
Example - you have a guy like ESF with total shit genetics and almost non-existent genetic response to anabolics. Those kind of retards slam grams and grams and end up looking like a natural dude who trains hard.
It’s this entitled titty baby - everybody has to be equal - pussified society. We need to be able to accept that some of us can do things that others can’t.

i never understood the "genetic response" to drugs

if you use a ton of drugs wouldn't you grow?  i think the guys that don't grow are using bunk drugs or have no diet

Not true. There are variations to the dose/response ratio. Some, say like a Levrone, are hyper responders; then you get someone like Dan Hill, who though above average, will never be world class. Then you have the vast majority of us, you see them everyday at the gym, that will never win a local show. In fact, just look at the guys at State level shows. All of them are juicing. Some barely look like they train.

Even if Levrone is a hyper responder and good genetics he’s definitely using “a lot” in terms of more than local gym rats, the term a lot is relative but many compounds are used to build his physique, same with flex wheeler whom many will argue is better than levrone. Remember Levrone is only 5’9 very skinny lean without all the assistance, same with wheeler, they are very tiny individuals when 100 percent natural

still got them reverse turnip legs

very few people with good quads these days, all reverse turnips, looks terrible

how come?

Too much wide stance squatting. It over develops the upper quads.
It all boils to forcing size at all costs.

Nope - Some have Better Muscular Growth response to using gear
Just as some naturally respond better to lifting / bodybuilding etc

how does a guy with high testosterone levels not build more muscle when he is eating and lifting the right way?  what is holding him back from growing if he has all 3 qualities?

Excellent points.

Just pointing out that for most, drugs, no matter how much, isn't going to take you to pro size as far as lean muscle mass. I've just known too many people over the decades that juice to the extreme (10grams/week) plus gh/slin that just didn't get there. They got very big and heavy but fat. And they were using the same gear as others who did much better on less.

That's the mystery. Why do some people just naturally run faster than others? Grow taller?
Get stronger? Get a bunch of men the same age and roughly the same size and put them on the exact same program and their results will vary.

For example, we all now know about the myostatin effect. A gene that limits muscle growth. Some have more than others and no amount of testosterone is going to compensate for that.

I agree, true

Genetics is the most important attribute, that’s a given, combine with powerful PED’s and you have an exceptional physique

Seems flex and Kevin were examples of tiny individuals when truly natural, skinny, but very lean, hard gainers but combined with anabolics they blew up. The downside to their physiques from observations is that they are more quicker to lose A LOT when coming down dosages or stopping as say compared to someone like Shawn Ray or Ronnie whom are built much different and more of that thicker, bigger boned  meso frame than the other two
