In the midst of the battle, try to incorporate this weapon into your arsenal. Report back on the results of your sneak attack

I prefer about 2 degrees higher on the bench.  I accomplish this by placing a 1" x 2" board under the rear legs of the bench.  It raises the bench just barely over 2 degrees.  This is the optimum angle for shredding pecs.  Hope this helps.   8)

Is a lifting belt needed for low angle bench pressing?

It’s not bench pressing. It’s war.

If he keeps stopping short of his chest he is going to lose flexibility. Then when he hits his chest through fatigue or intentional he has a higher degree of probability of a rip.

Huh,I’ve always benched if using bar stopping about 2-3” short of chest and lockout unless very heavy weight max.get much better chest pump with constant tension.

Declines are most effective when done with a wide grip to the neck/throat...........otherwise,useless IMO.

What little muscle I have has deflated on my upper pecs. The outside area is also underdeveloped, always has been. Guess I should be glad to be at least a little toned at my age. Clearly, I don't have your genetics or ambition. When I do declines I do them in a rack so I can limit how far down the bar goes. I have a fear of choking myself.

I think declines are great and underutilized. They are dangerous though. I wish I could use the bench in the gym but I hate asking guys to spot me. It interrupts their work out and I always seems to get the guy that feels he has to pull up on the bar with 30lbs plus up upward force when I don't need it.

One of the gyms I use has a Smith machine which looks like the one in the picture. It is how I prefer to do decline bench presses. There's no need for a spot and it is relatively safe.
