She paid 50K for someone to take the test for her kid.  She must have a lot of spare coin. She couldn't send him to Penn State? It has to be an Ivy league school?  Couldn't she check the box that says her kid is an American Indian and saved herself 50K?

Bingo!
With their cash , they could have sent the kid with avg SAT's to some Podunk state U and get a degree in a
competitive field ( engineering, accounting, etc).
But no, they spend big bucks to get their kids into some Ivy League school to end up majoring in "basket weaving" ;D

So true. Many state colleges offer as good an education as the Ivy League - without the cachet. But it's all about status with some people- much like it is with cars, houses, etc. They figured they could buy their way in.

Success is driven by character and passion. Look at George Lucas, for example:

"George Lucas graduated in 1967 as a film major with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, but before earning his four-year degree Lucas first attended Modesto Junior College, according to the CCCCO. The “Star Wars” creator put his education to good use and became one of Hollywood’s most influential and lucrative figures in the science fiction genre, with a net worth estimated by Forbes at $5.2 billion."

14 days in prison plus a fine seems to be the going rate if you cop to guilty.

Instead of a fine the parent should be made to pay for the tuition of another qualified student.

Buckingham wanted to pursue the cheating scheme a second time for her daughter, according to prosecutors, but "was arrested before she had an opportunity to engage in the fraud a second time."

Really dashed her hopes of the kid meeting a nice asian boy and settling down.

The imposter scheme went even further when she hired a haggard, down on his luck 80s rocker to impersonate her at the trial.  Look at that face. I think it's one of the dudes from Quiet Riot.

She's full of remorse about getting caught.

She also promised not to do it again (get caught).

Beuller?  Beuller?

You are thinking of the Ben Rose House...

Actually, most houses like this are not easily seen from outside the grounds.  Some also have outbuildings for things like workshops and the like.

Success is driven by character, and passion and access to helpful individuals, companies, institutions, and financial resources . Look at George Lucas, for example, whose father was a successfull retailer and store owner:

Imagine the heating bill for a glass house.

You can get double pane windows that has nitrogen or argon  in between the panes to reduce the transmission of heat.

Fixed for reality...

Oh brother. Try again. I started my first business out of a shed, working night shift jobs while I spent days trying to make a go of it. Took me three years but I made it. No rich daddy, no rich wife, no rich nothing.

Since then I have helped 5 people launch their own businesses, all with similar average Joe backgrounds like mine. All are doing well and making well north of $200K+ a year.

Some people have drive. Others have excuses.

Nice covered patio.

That is what Philip Johnson lived in.  It has a kitchen, and a bathroom in that brick cylinder inside.  There were some outbuildings for his workshops and garage.
