She could have quit at any time. But being the victim is the go to mode these days. I have a friend who, as a pro cyclist in his early 20's, was told by his team that he needed to take PEDs in order to compete. He said no and went off to find a different team. Simple as that.

Though I agree with your first point, it's different for girls - especially 16-year-old girls.  Recall the decades-long
sexual abuse in female gymnastics.  I applaud your adult friend's decision.

I guess the real question is where were the parents in all this?

Normally I'd agree with you but this case is different. She was only 16. She knows nothing yet. Her brain isn't fully developed. She seems incredibly mature for her age though.

Absolutely.  Based on the video, her parents became concerned and supportive only when she said she was quitting.
Did the parents suspect anything the several years their daughter was in the program?

Average joe parent doesn't know shit about sports doping. Unless they find pills or needles, there's no real way for a person to know their kid is using hormones. They're already hormonal messes.

In a world where scandals are generally pertaining to sexual predators and the likes, pressuring a female athlete to lose weight doesn't seem relatively "bad".  I get that it was terrible for her and I'm not shitting on her terrible experiences.  Just hard to feel something about it.

Very good point.

She has already admitted trying to get back into the group last spring. So, how bad could it have been?

My guess is that some lawyer got into her and her parents ears and are trying to get a settlement from Nike.

It just sounds like the kid couldn't hack the grind.

"I was cutting myself. People saw me cutting myself."

Epic attention whoring. I would guess her natural talent provided her a life of praise fueled effort. Once she was just another thoroughbred around hard nosed people accustomed to thoroughbreds, it turned out her engine couldn't run on criticism. She retreated into dramatica and continues to make "not my fault, I'm super talent, meanies are mean" wash-out's lament videos.

Guess that's unsympathetic.  But at that level a ruthlessness is to be expected. Put in the work, adhere completely to the program, and get winning results. Or fuck off. Because if you won't then the next person, who would very much like to be here, absolutely will.
