French Connection Car Chase Sceen
« on: November 10, 2019, 09:46:25 AM »
The head of the transit authority asked for $40,000 and a one way ticket to Jamaica.  He wanted a one way ticket because he knew he would get fired and he did.

They drove 90mph for 26 blocks on public streets without permission.  All completely illegal.  :D

Terrible, boring flick. Never understood its success. The early 70s must have been an entertainment desert.

"You ever pick your feet in Poughkeepsie? Huh? Did ya?"  ::)

I find Gene Hackman hard to take. His career should have been Hoosiers and Unforgiven.

I agree, that flick is over rated in a huge way.
The car chase scene in Bullit is good but the movie like the French Connection is also vastly over rated IMO.

Now the chicks ass in the white pants that Kwon posted above is Oscar worthy !!

Just watched this as a matter of fact.  Taking of Pelham 123 is much better.

The sounds a little distorted, but here's the full movie.

There aren't many actors as good as Gene Hackman today.  My favorite movie of his is the Conversation.

Look at the raw grittiness of the French Connection.  They're trying to portray the reality of New York city in the 70's.

The Popeye Doyle character is well developed and interesting.

I don't like any of the movies they make today.

Every role ever:

"I want to bring some depth to the character. Some conflict. Some motivation."

Ok Gene. What have you got in mind?

"He's annoyed by people who think he's wrong but he believes he's right. And he's frustrated because he's trying to get things done. Things that are important to him."

You just described everyone on Getbig.  Are we all playing Gene Hackman?
