To be fair Straw , intelligence isn't the issue.
For Trumpers it's a simple matter of BELIEF over facts or objective proof.
The need to believe in TRUMP and refuse to acknowledge any fault or guilt of him.
This is more like some religion then mere politics
I've tried to talk sense into countless bodybuilders I judged that failed to win or place well.
I've used this example but it bears repeating here.
No matter what photos , videos or judging critique I gave , they REFUSED to accept reality.
They refused to accept the simple fact of losing to a superior physique.
Every time I attend a Braves game, the pitcher will throw to first to hold the base runner.
If the Braves pitcher does, they cheer him on, no matter how many times he throws over.
If the other team's pitcher does it, they scream he's slowing the game down 
I know plenty of guys who will cheat on their gf or spouse and feel justified to do so.
BUT, they also say they'd kill her if she did the same thing. WTF.
Team Trump has a few good things with their politics.
Being fair and objective was never one of them.
it is if you take their objection of "boredom" seriously
It's no different than when children complain they are bored when they are stuck listening to their parent talk with other adults
Of course, it's an excuse.
They'll say any stupid thing to avoid actually having to look at, listen to and address the crimes of their fat orange messiah.
That closet case Lindsey Graham has flip flopped all over the place to avoid having to address Trumps crimes and now he's resorted to covering his ears and eyes to prevent having any knowledge of the facts at hand
