Putin has restored the Russian Orthodox Church to a similar standing that it had pre-USSR. Good or bad person aside, he does understand his people.

Russia is good now. It was evil when large portions of the native population were murdered, tortured, and enslaved by mostly non-native Bolsheviks and later Stalin when they were at their worst.

The media loved the USSR but now they hate Russia because it's back in native and Christian hands. Never buy into the media being against genocide. They're only against it when it happens to them.

Wow - very cool.  I heard the USSR destroyed churches.  Not sure if that is true.  But I guess religion is on the rise in the USSR now.

No the ussr didn't destroy churches (may be it took place in the 1910s 1920s), it had a somewhat state ideology where the church\religion had no place in it. Now there are orthodox churches being built everywhere

Yes, they did. Here is film evidence of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow being demolished in 1931 on the order of Joseph Stalin.

It was rebuilt in between 1995 and 2000.
