at my "hardcore" gym

I belong to a supposedly hardcore gym, it's not a franchise club.   But is everyone trying to get Instafamous these days?  I'm seeing so many guys AND girls taking video, and pictures all the damn time.  Average looking people, not amazing bodies.  Setting up gym equipment to prop up a camera to get the "shot."  Super annoying when you wanna work out.  I reckon it's a sign of the times though.  Sigh. Get famous or die trying I guess.

Oddly enough lots of people it seems.People seem to take enjoyment in watching other people do what they like to do regardless of skill level. Strange fucking world these days.

Guys doing karate moves in mirror, or throwing punches in place, giving the mean stink eye. Sad, yet comical.

I lift in a hardcore gym that isn't a chain.  I think the best bodybuilders come from these type gyms like Yates and Coleman.  Nobody at my gym is doing Instagram filming. Never seen one person take a picture or a video with a phone. We had one old guy about 65 that said he competed for decades take off his shirt and pose in the mirror. I think the owner kicked him out. Never seen him again. Very few women work out at my gym. About a mile away is one of those fancy chain Retro gyms. The flooring is new. The equipment is new. Swimming pool and maybe 30 plus pieces of cardio equipment. All the hot women wearing those yoga pants panty hose go there. My gym they walk in to check out the gym.  They look at the 30 year old plus equipment with hard core guys lifting and they make a bee line to the door.

Yeah Lawrence is brutal,My wife’s grandmother lived there her whole life and we would do Xmas eve there up until she passed a few years back and would hear gun shots sometimes.She wouldn’t move though, tough old broad.

These days, I work from home a ton, so I like to get out of the house, the gym is great otherwise. HUGE weight room separate from the cardio and machine room.
Shitloads of every machine (Hammer, etc). Like I said, took a while to get used to as I've never been around it much.

Didn't have it (odd behaviors) in lily-white Hampstead NH at the gym I've been at for 15 years previously.
Cultural thing it seems around here, and pretty normal behavior in many places unfortunately.
