Eddie Hall - Does He Possess a "Hercules Gene"?
« on: December 11, 2019, 02:48:37 AM »
A "Hercules Gene" would be a natural Myostatin inhibitor.  Does Eddie Hall have that?  A medical doctor weighs in:

Eddies much more than just drugs. Does he take a lot? Maybe.
Is his stack not so large? Maybe.
Would he be bigger and stronger than any GetBigger w/out them?? Yes...

Seems like it.

Do you think Eddie Hall could hit a 675-lb [seven plates per side] deadlift naturally?

Eddie is genetically very gifted. Regardless of drugs, you aren't winning WSM and deadlifting half a ton without having great genes for strength. He was also one of the best swimmers in the UK at youth level.

He's definitely got above average genes for strength but the myostatin thing is nonsense.

Got knocked out by a gypsy in Stoke a few years ago.
The gypsy was a fighter but couldn't bench 225.

No.

He just takes a lot of drugs.

I remember Muscle-Tech used to put out a supplement that was supposed to inhibit one's myostatin gene. I purchased the product, thinking I would look like Dorian Yates.

Most fighters don' bench.  Big pecs impede your punching power.

You have got to be joking Rob?! Nobody has deadlifted 500kg with the bar he used. Two guys came close. And as far as bench goes I think he is better than Larry. Wheels wraps his elbows for his PR lifts. We'll see what Eddie's max lift will be if he continues training for a PR.

Eddie is built for heavy lifting. I like Larry and he is extremely strong but let's be real here. Eddie has a WSM title to his name and Larry doesn't.

He's definitely got above average genes for strength but the myostatin thing is nonsense.

I'm reminded of theories like hyperplasia.  On that topic, 1983 Mr. Universe Jeff King said this about it:

Quote
A lot of it has to do with what God gave you - the genetics you were born with. You need to start out with a certain amount of muscle fiber. There are theories out there like muscle hyperplasia and all that. I really don't believe in them. You're born with what you're born with. When you're a young kid everyone wants to be a professional football player and only so many of them can make it. It's a certain environment. It's a certain mental drive. You have to chalk it up to genetics and then proper training.

I would tend to agree with that.  Like...completely.  ;D  I used to think hard training, good nutrition, and steroid use [likely in reverse order/emphasis] would get me to Jeff King's size and shape.  I hadn't even thought about good genetics at the time.  Now I realize that genetics are probably the #1 component that those three components depend on - and you either have good genetics for size and shape/conditioning, or you don't.  I don't.

I purchased the Cell-Tech / Nitro-Tech stack [likely for something like $105 CAD [$0 USD] - a lot of money for an 18-year-old student] because I thought it would make me look like Greg Kovacs.

My logic to justify MuscleTech ripping me off was likely something like "Well - Greg Kovacs gained 23-lb, and he's already massive, and closer to maxing out his potential gains than I am.  So if I use the stack, I should have no problem gaining 10-lb, since it's under 50% of what Kovacs gained from using the stack!!

Good question!  You have made me ponder another question, with respect to Eddie in the party scene:

If Eddie went to a party and did MDMA, would his heart explode?  :-\

First gain 200+ lbs then eat everything in sight allday, take a lot of drugs and I’d say if you are a strong guy and follow that regimen for 5-10 years you would get close to 1100 providing no injury.

I’m much more impressed by a 220 deadlifting 675 than a 450 doing 1100.to be equally impressive said 450lber should be doing 1350.

Get your body weight up around minimum of 350lbs to 420lbs +
Take Vast amounts of PEDs / painkillers / Cocaine dedicate yourself
For 18mnths working on your Dealift & see how that’s Goes.
You may very well not deadlift 1100bs only you’ll most certainly Deadlift
A Whole Lot More Than you currently Do.

Good Luck. & Let us Know.

First off, 99% of people regardless of what they took or did could never come close to a 1,100lbs deadlift and second these days there are 220lbs lifters who use 675 as a warm up. Impressive still but not in the same ball park
