Human nature is the same all over the world. They want to be paid as much as they can get for the job that they do and as someone who worked for tips, and know many that did and still do. Nobody is "laughing" at anybody who gives extra tips as if they are a sucker. They, we, appreciate it and, yes give them special service as they are treating us special. I just read an article about how Dana White, the UFC president, is a super great tipper and is revered for it.

What about you? Say you were a waiter at Denny's and the bill was $20 but the guy tipped you $50 because he felt generous and wanted to make your night. Would you laugh at him?
Thank you Pellius! 100% right.

I'm cheap and have no money....happy?  ::)

As far as tipping in Germany goes. My son who has lived in Germany the better part of the last 26 years is who told me I was tipping too much. Apparently, he is right,

Germany: Tipping & Etiquette

Tipping and Service in Restaurants, Bars, Clubs, etc.
Service and VAT are included in the menu price in restaurants, bars, etc. all over Germany.  Still, it is typical to "round up" the amount to some more-or-less round figure. A rule of thumb is to add 5-10%, generally ending with a full Euro amount.

Caveat: it is not typical to be given a check, then leave your money on the table.  You have to tell the amount including tip you want to pay before you pay (via cash or credit card)

How You Pay: Typically, the waiter/waitress always comes to you and tells you your total. You then tell him/her how much you will pay, i.e. the amount you owe plus any "rounding up" -- for example, the waiter/waitress might say "€7.60;"  you hand him/her a €10 note and say "9 Euros."  S/he then will give you €1 in change.

Tipping in Germany and tipping in some other countries, such as the United States, are totally different. In Germany, waitresses are paid more and so the tips are smaller compared to the USA. Nevertheless, the 5-10% rule of  thumb still applies. If you want to tip less (according to some advice on the net) be prepared to appear stingy.

tipping in restaurants in Austria
If you receive good service you can leave a gratuity of around 5%, or round-up the bill – the same applies for bars and cafés. ... Give the tip as you are paying the bill. For instance, if the bill is 18.50, you can simply give the waiter/waitress 20 and say danke (thank you).

If you are sincerely tipping 30% on a regular basis, of course you are getting special treatment and the folks you are tipping are laughing at you all the way to the bank.  ;D
I'm in Vienna right now visiting! most austrians tip just like you explained. (They call it "aufrunden")
Its way to little for their services.
Of course I want them to laugh and be happy when they take home there hard earned cash.

Just not agreeing with your goofy comment about "American tourists who tip too much are not well thought of". It's just stupid. Everyone likes a good tip. lol
Sorry prime, you are wrong

Don't be sorry. Maybe I am wrong. Maybe in the many times I visited Germany, I got it wrong. This is what my son told me. As I mentioned before, he has lived in Germany for more than 25 years and has a German wife, three grown children, many German friends and a huge extended family. Maybe he's wrong too.

I take it you probably travel there on business or you are a frequent tourist. Do you visit the little towns as well as the big and small cities? My son and his family live in a small Bavarian village 20 k outside of Würzburg. Even though he works on a military base in a large city, his experiences may be very different from yours.

Do you suppose her unattractive appearance had anything to do with her attitude. You'd think a good looking woman would be more likely find guys' who tipped extravagantly motives suspect.

i would think the ugly appearance would make her appreciate it more, but i think it's proof even ugly women have guys trying too hard to impress them and they look down on that

she was nice person in general, most of them were lasz and entitled bitches

also female service workers don't tip well themselves, so guys shouldn't feel obligated to tip them well

Sorry man, I don't buy it. Service workers don't make shit and depend on tips. It's like saying you look down on your boss for giving you a raised. If she really said that she's just talking.

But, if true, she is an extreme exception and probably a bit kooky. When anybody ever complains about getting too much money why don't they just give it back? Whenever anybody complains that we don't pay enough taxes why don't they just
send the government more of their money.

Man Mohegan is like my second home.Absolutely love it.Cant stand fox woods and never did great there, the only part that was decent was mgm, old Foxwoods is pretty gross as far as burns and stains on tables carpet etc... also it’s so industrial where as Mohegan is more comfortable and personal. They treat me great and I usually kill it there.Foxwoods never gave me much respect,I get every night at Mohegan free stay except holidays but at Foxwoods it was pulling teeth.
