'Goldfinger' Model & Bond Girl Margaret Nolan Dead at 76

Margaret Nolan -- who served as the iconic golden-plated babe portrayed in the opening sequence of "Goldfinger" -- has died.

The legendary British artist and glamour model passed away last week, according to her son, Oscar Deeks. The news wasn't broken, however, until Sunday when director Edgar Wright -- who'd cast Margaret in a film of his set to be released next year -- posted on Twitter.

He writes, "It's my sad duty to report that actress and artist, the magnificent Margaret Nolan has passed away. She was the middle of Venn diagram of everything cool in the 60's; having appeared with the Beatles, been beyond iconic in Bond and been part of the Carry On cast too." Edgar went on to attach several photos of Margaret from her different gigs, and detailed different on-camera projects she'd been a part of over her six-decade-plus career.

Margaret led a pretty storied life ... besides being the model featured in the opening to 'Goldfinger' -- not to mention all the merch from the film that followed -- she was actually in the movie as one of the Bond girls, albeit in a smaller (but still memorable) capacity.

She played Bond's poolside masseuse, Dink, who was rubbing him up before Sean Connery introduced her to a colleague and then quickly shooed her away with a nice swat on the tush ... telling it was time for "man talk." Pretty sexist when you look back, but it is what it is.

Margaret also starred in another mega '60s-era flick -- the Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night" ... which they made after their hit song of the same name. She played an unnamed woman at a casino, and while her time on camera was relatively brief ... it too was everlasting.

She has a long list of acting credits ... having made appearances in shows like "Crossroads," "Secret Agent," "199 Park Lane," "Hugh and I," "Take a Pair of Private Eyes," "The Newcomers," "The World of Beachcomber," "Brian Rix Presents ...," "Budgie," "Fox," "Crown Court" and countless others. Margaret also starred in several films throughout her career, including recurring and also alternating roles in the 1970's 'Carry On' comedy franchise.

Her modeling career was second to none, and she even tried her hand as a graphic visual artist -- to which she sometimes received criticism for her photo montages and displays. Nonetheless, the woman was a dynamo in showbiz and entertainment.

Margaret is survived by her two sons. She was 76.

RIP

Two and a Half Men Star Conchata Ferrell Dies at 77

Conchata Ferrell, a beloved actress known for her work on Two and a Half Men, L.A. Law, and Mystic Pizza, has passed away at the age of 77. According to reports, Ferrell's passing occurred on October 12th at 12:30 PM PT, as the result of complications following a cardiac arrest. Reports indicate that she died peacefully, while surrounded by family at the Sherman Oaks Hospital in Sherman Oaks, California. A prolific actress of both stage and screen, Ferrell was arguably best known for playing Berta on Two and a Half Men, a role that earned her two Emmy nominations for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Born on March 28, 1943, in Loudendale, West Virginia, Ferrell first appeared on stage as part of a college skit comedy and musical production in 1969. She went on to appear in Off-Broadway productions of The Hot I Baltimore and The Sea Horse, the latter of which earned her multiple awards. She also served as an original member of the Circle Repertory Theatre.

“Conchata Ferrell was exactly the kind of artist for whom we created our theater – a deeply honest performer who would inspire our playwrights to create roles for her,” Circle Rep’s founding artistic director, Marshall W. Mason, said in a statement. “She was our first home-grown star.”

Her first major film roles were Elinore Randall Stewart in the 1979 western Heartland, and Leona, the pizza shop owner in the 1988 cult classic Mystic Pizza. Ferrell's television career included appearances on E/R, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Matlock, Good Times, The Love Boat, and Friends. Prior to Two and a Half Men, her biggest television role came as attorney Susan Bloom on L.A. Law, which earned her her first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 1992. On the film side, she appeared in supporting roles in Network, Edward Scissorhands, True Romance, and Erin Brockovich. She also voiced Bob's Mom in the 2012 animated hit Frankenweenie.

Ferrell began playing Two and a Half Men's Berta the Housekeeper in 2003, ultimately appearing in 212 episodes until the series wrapped in 2015. Her most recent roles included multiple appearances on The Ranch, as well as A Very Nutty Christmas, and a role in the upcoming comedy Deported.

Ferrell married to Arnie Anderson in the mid-1980s, and had a daughter and two stepdaughters.

Our thoughts are with Ferrell's family, friends, and fans at this time.

The Outfield Singer Tony Lewis Dead at 62

Tony Lewis -- best known as the "Your Love" singer for the British rock band The Outfield -- has died.

Tony reportedly died Tuesday near his home in London. The cause of death was not revealed. The musician, songwriter and record producer co-founded The Outfield with Alan Jackman and John Spinks. Their music roared in the 1980s with hit tracks like "Your Love," "All The Love" and "Say It Isn't So."

The Outfield's debut album was "Play Deep" in 1985 ... which would go on to reach triple platinum sales and break the top 10 in the U.S. album charts. "Your Love" -- prominently featured in tons of TV shows, films and even commercials -- peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1986. It's easily one of the most recognizable songs in rock history.

Since its release over 30 years ago ... "Your Love" is played on over 1,000 radio stations and averages 2 million streams on Pandora, 1 million views on YouTube and 1 million streams on Spotify, this according to the late singer's personal website.

Tony Lewis was born on December 21, 1957 in the East End of London. He had been working on a new EP ... set to be released in Spring 2021. He's survived by his wife of 35 years, Carol, his 2 daughters -- Gemma and Rosie -- and 3 grandchildren.

He was 62.

RIP

Sean Connery: James Bond actor dies aged 90

Sir Sean Connery has died at the age of 90, his family has said.

The Scottish actor was best known for his portrayal of James Bond, being the first to bring the role to the big screen and appearing in seven of the spy thrillers.

Sir Sean died peacefully in his sleep in the Bahamas, having been "unwell for some time", his son said.

His acting career spanned five decades and he won an Oscar in 1988 for his role in The Untouchables.

Sir Sean's other films included The Hunt for Red October, Highlander, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and The Rock.

Jason Connery said his father "had many of his family who could be in the Bahamas around him" when he died overnight in Nassau. Much of Bond film Thunderball had been filmed there.

He said: "We are all working at understanding this huge event as it only happened so recently, even though my dad has been unwell for some time.

"A sad day for all who knew and loved my dad and a sad loss for all people around the world who enjoyed the wonderful gift he had as an actor."

His publicist Nancy Seltzer said: "There will be a private ceremony followed by a memorial yet to be planned once the virus has ended."

He leaves wife Micheline and sons Jason and Stephane.

Daniel Craig, the current James Bond, said Sir Sean was "one of the true greats of cinema".

"Sir Sean Connery will be remembered as Bond and so much more," he said.

"He defined an era and a style. The wit and charm he portrayed on screen could be measured in mega watts; he helped create the modern blockbuster.

"He will continue to influence actors and film-makers alike for years to come. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones."

In reference to Sir Sean's love of the game, he added: "Wherever he is, I hope there is a golf course."

Dame Shirley Bassey, who sang the themes to three Bond films including Goldfinger, paid tribute saying: "I'm incredibly saddened to hear of Sean's passing. My thoughts are with his family. He was a wonderful person, a true gentleman and we will be forever connected by Bond."

Sir Sean, from Fountainbridge in Edinburgh, had his first major film appearance in 1957 British gangster film No Road Back.

He first played James Bond in Dr No in 1962 and went on to appear in five other official films - and the unofficial Never Say Never Again in 1983.

He was largely regarded as being the best actor to have played 007 in the long-running franchise, often being named as such in polls.

Connery made the character of James Bond his own, blending ruthlessness with sardonic wit. Many critics didn't like it and some of the reviews were scathing. But the public did not agree.

The action scenes, sex and exotic locations were a winning formula.

In truth, his Bond is now a museum piece; the portrayal of women impossibly dated. The action scenes are still thrilling, but the sex too often bordered on the non-consensual.

Thankfully, its been a while since 007 slapped a woman on the backside and forced a kiss. But Connery's performance was of its time, enjoyed by millions of both sexes and gave the silver screen a 20th Century icon.

He was knighted by the Queen at Holyrood Palace in 2000. In August, he celebrated his 90th birthday.

Bond producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said they were "devastated by the news" of his death.

They said: "He was and shall always be remembered as the original James Bond whose indelible entrance into cinema history began when he announced those unforgettable words 'the name's Bond... James Bond'.

"He revolutionised the world with his gritty and witty portrayal of the sexy and charismatic secret agent. He is undoubtedly largely responsible for the success of the film series and we shall be forever grateful to him."

Sir Sean was a long-time supporter of Scottish independence, saying in interviews in the run-up to the 2014 referendum that he might return from his Bahamas home to live in Scotland if it voted to break away from the rest of the UK.

Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: "I was heartbroken to learn this morning of the passing of Sir Sean Connery. Our nation today mourns one of her best loved sons.

"Sean was born into a working class Edinburgh family and through talent and sheer hard work, became an international film icon and one of the world's most accomplished actors. Sean will be remembered best as James Bond - the classic 007 - but his roles were many and varied.

"He was a global legend but, first and foremost, a patriotic and proud Scot - his towering presence at the opening of the Scottish Parliament in 1999 showed his love for the country of his birth. Sean was a lifelong advocate of an independent Scotland and those of us who share that belief owe him a great debt of gratitude."

Alex Salmond, former first minister of Scotland, who was close friends with Sir Sean, described him as "the world's greatest Scot, the last of the real Hollywood stars, the definitive Bond".

He said: "Sean Connery was all of these things but much more. He was also a staunch patriot, a deep thinker and outstanding human being.

He added: "'Scotland Forever' wasn't just tattooed on his forearm but was imprinted on his soul."

Surface, Bones Actor Eddie Hassell Killed in Alleged Carjacking

Surface and Bones actor Eddie Hassell is dead following a shooting early Sunday morning in Texas. Hassell was 30. According to TMZ, the actor was shot in an apparent attempted carjacking. According to the report, few additional details were available from local law enforcement, but the actor's team did confirm his death. The incident is still being investigated.

Hassell was born July 16, 1990 in Corsicana, Texas and over his career appeared in a number of films and television series. Hassell is perhaps best known for his role in NBC's Surface, a science fiction series that ran on the network for one season in 2005. Hassell played Phil Nance, the best friend of teenager Miles Barnett (Carter Jenkins) who helps take care of the strange aquatic lizard that hatches from a mysterious "egg" that Miles finds off the coast of the Carolinas. The series also starred Leighton Meester and Lake Bell.

In addition to his role on Surface, Hassell also appeared in the Academy Award-nominated The Kids Are All Right as Clay, a film that also starred Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo. He also appeared in the Ashton Kutcher-starring Steve Jobs biopic Jobs as Chris Espinosa, one of Jobs' neighbors who was recruited to help build circuit boards in his garage and eventually went on to work at Apple.

The actor also appeared in a number of television series, including Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Southland, Bones, Longmire, Joan of Arcadia, Oliver Beene, and a recurring role as Eddie Suarez on Devious Maids. His most recent credit is for the 2017 Oh Lucy!

Outside of his work as an actor, Hassell was an avid surfer and skateboarder. Hassell told Elle in 2013 that skateboarding became a huge part of his life when he moved to Los Angeles.

“Skateboarding’s been a huge part of my life, it also got me cast in commercials. I was into horseback riding and rodeos in Texas and when I moved to L.A., I got into skating. I did all my own stunts. I’m into anything with a board: surfing, wakeboarding.”

Grand Theft Auto Actor Terry Marshall Dies

Terry Marshall, the voice actor behind Grand Theft Auto IV character "Real Badman," died on November 1. At the moment of publishing, details are scarce. This includes not only the cause of death, but basic information like Marshall's age. As for the news itself, it comes way of both Marshall's brother and Rockstar Games. According to the former, Marshall has "departed this physical reality and traded it in for some other dimension."

As noted, further details are currently scarce. In fact, these are where the details, about both Marshall and his death, end. Marshall's brother notes the voice actor lived in New York City, but that's the only other additional detail divulged in the announcement.

"My brother has departed this physical reality and traded it in for some other dimension," writes Marshall's brother on both Instagram and Twitter.

Marshall's death occurred on November 1, but it's only now that many are hearing about it after Rockstar Games officially addressed the tragedy via its official Twitter account. As you may know, Marshall played Grand Theft Auto IV character Real Badman, also known as Teafore Maxwell-Davies. In the game, Badman is the leader of the posse Yardies.

Of course, when and if more details are provided on both Marshall's life and death, we will be sure to update the story. In the meanwhile, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to Marshall's family and friends during this incredibly tragic and difficult time.

Rest in peace, Terry.

Phantasm Actor Kenneth Jones Passes Away

Kenneth Jones, the character actor perhaps best known for his role in the 1979 horror classic Phantasm has died. Phantasm director Don Coscarelli took to Twitter on Friday evening (via Deadline) to share the sad news, though no cause of death and no age for Jones was given. Coscarelli described Jones, who played the "Caretaker" in the film, as a "warm, talented, and a devoted family man" in his tribute to the actor.

"I'm sorry to report that Ken Jones who starred in the most impactful scene in Phantasm has passed away today. Everyone who came in contact with Ken loved him," Coscarelli wrote. "He was warm, talented, and a devoted family man. The fans loved meeting him in recent years at the conventions with his loving daughter Jennifer and grandson EJ by his side. Rest in peace, my friend."

The first film in the Phantasm franchise, the film introduces the Tall Man, an evil, supernatural undertaker who turns the Earth's dead to zombies that he sends to his home planet to use as slaves. A young boy, Mike, discovers this and enlists his older brother Jody and friend Reggie to deal with the threat.

While Jones' Caretaker didn't play a major role in the film, his on-screen death is one of the horror genre's more memorable kills. In the scene, the Tall Man's silver sphere drills through the Caretaker's head, prompting a torrent of blood to shoot out gruesomely. The film initially received mixed reviews but has since gone on to become a cult classic, spawning four sequels including 2016's Phantasm: Ravager. The film also regularly pops up on "best of" lists for horror films and has had a lasting influence. The name of Captain Phasma in Star Wars: The Force Awakens was inspired by the silver sphere that took out the Caretaker in Phantasm.

"Phasma I named because of the amazing chrome design that came from Michael Kaplan's wardrobe team. It reminded me of the ball in Phantasm, and I just thought, Phasma sounds really cool," J.J. Abrams said in 2015.

In addition to his role in Phantasm, Jones also appeared in Coscarelli's 1976 comedy-drama film Kenny & Company as well as 1993's Hidden Fears, which starred Meg Foster and Frederic Forrest.

Jeopardy Host Alex Trebek Dies at 80

Sadly, long time host of Jeopardy!, Alex Trebek, has passed away at age 80 after battling pancreatic cancer. The beloved host was originally diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in March of 2019 and has been keeping fans updated on his status over the last year. The official Twitter account for Jeopardy broke the news, saying, "Jeopardy is saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends."

Trebek was born in Canada in 1940 and moved to the United States in the 1970s to begin his game show career. He first hosted The Wizard of Odds before moving on to High Rollers. Throughout the next decade, he made many appearances as a panelist and player on various game shows and when High Rollers was canceled in 1980, he began hosting Battlestars. However, it wasn’t until 1984 that he received the job he held until he passed. Trebek spent over 30 years hosting Jeopardy! and even continued to do so while he was sick.

Trebek's career also included hosting Classic Concentration, CBS' Double Dare, Pillsbury Bake-Off, and more. He was also a contestant on Celebrity Bowling, Celebrity Poker Showdown, and various other competition series. Trebek made many guest appearances throughout his career and was seen on The X-Files, How I Met Your Mother, and Hot in Cleveland.

The host was very open about his struggles with cancer and spoke about his experience earlier this year.

"Now I’d be lying if I said the journey had been an easy one," Trebek shared in a video update. "There were some good days but a lot of not-so-good days. I joked with friends that the cancer won’t kill me, the chemo treatments will. There were moments of great pain, days when certain bodily functions no longer functioned and sudden, massive attacks of great depression that made me wonder if it really was worth fighting on. But I brushed that aside quickly because that would have been a massive betrayal - a betrayal of my wife and soulmate, Jean, who has given her all to help me survive. It would have been a betrayal of other cancer patients who have looked to me as an inspiration and a cheerleader of sorts, of the value of living and hope, of my faith in God and the millions of prayers that have been said on my behalf."

Trebek is expected to appear in Ryan Reynolds' Free Guy, which is scheduled to be released next month. Our thoughts are with Trebek's friends and family.

Comedian Norm Crosby Dead at 93

Norm Crosby, one of the top comedians in the '60s and beyond, has died.

Crosby's wife said her husband succumbed to heart failure.

His moniker was malaprops ... the misuse of words that were absolutely hilarious. He would muse that he went to the tailor for some altercations. And, this is hysterical ... he once joked folks who can't read or write are victims of illegitimacy!

Norm was a staple on "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson ... appearing more than 50 times. He made the rounds for sure, also appearing on "The Ed Sullivan Show," "Late Night With Conan O'Brien," "Roseanne," "The Larry Sanders Show," and, of course, "The Love Boat."

Norm recently appeared in "Grownups 2" ... he played a Kmart worker. He was also in "8 Crazy Nights."

And, Crosby was a regular on the roasting circuit, appearing often on Dean Martin's Celebrity Roasts. He was also the host of the TV series, "The Comedy Shop." Norm also helped Jerry Lewis with the hosting duties in his annual Labor Day Telethon.

Norm is survived by his wife, Joan, 2 children and 2 grandkids.

He was 93.

RIP

Less than 7 weeks to go. I think Matt has the lead with 33 points (trebek and RBG), dieter and I with 20 points (trebek). If I’m forgetting anyone, let me know.
