I used all machines for back day. Pump was insane.

Overall, machines are far superior to free weights (unless Olympic lifter) for staying in good shape and for longevity.

went to the gym, did 3 sets straignt arm pulldowns and 3 sets of cable standing flys and then came home after 15 minutes, way too much festive frivolity hanging around

 ;D the lat machine is the most versatile piece of equipment in the gym. throw in some one arm rows with good form and your golden.

To this day, I still get better pumps and next day soreness from doing chins instead of machine pull downs.  I don't deadlift anymore but rather stick with hyperextensions to finish my workout.

Variety of pullups simply kill those machines !.

                  i said versatile as in triceps, biceps, back. leg and abs work. can you do that with a chin up bar. but chin ups are a superior back exercise.dips chinups and pushup should be staples in every bodies routine.

Machines are good, Ill pick a barbell over a machine 1st though. (Just my preference).

W/ many machines, you spend the entire workout sitting on your ass. I do have some faves though, for sure...
