"Personal trainers".....OMG
« on: January 06, 2020, 10:45:12 AM »
I train in 2 gyms, doing my own thing.

But what I pick up from these "personal trainers" is utter horrible.......they really don't know shit about anatomy let alone training. ...
They are just so stupid.....well I keep my mouth shut unles it concerns a minor...

Is this just here (Holland/Europe) or is this an international horror..... :-\ :-\

Its a new age of clueless industry "leaders".
At a new gym I go to at lunch near my work, I see the trainers showing people to use the bench press to deadlift (or simulate rack-pulls) and bent over barbell rows (Off the bench).

 ::)
 ???
Comical stuff. Good things there are like 8 benches, otherwise it would be annoying as fukk (or more so).

It's insanity. I see the top personal trainer in my gym do the same thing with every client. About six exercises chosen at random for a single set sometimes two while he counts reps. Never ever gives them tips on form so they hit the muscle they intend to target. I see some crazy form. I saw one who turned a traditional tricep pushdown into half a bent arm row and half a tricep press down.  Another had about a six inch range of motion in the seated lat pulley row. He never says anything and never demonstrates any exercise. These guys get their certificate on the internet after a week of school then think they are the most knowledgeable person on earth regarding training.

Pretty funny to listen to all the strength and conditioning coaches trying to show how smart they are on Twitter. Every day it’s a different kind of squat: from goblet squats to Bulgarian split squats to Ukrainian whistleblower squats.  It never ends.

They try to make a name for them self by making up an exercise.

Being a guru level trainer consists of nothing more than keeping appts and telling clients to do something different than they've been doing.

I imagine some trainers are just there to stroke their clients' egos, keep them company and collect their fees..

Why would anyone hire a personal trainer when you get advice for free from a youtube "fitness influencer".  :D :D :D

Who hires a personal trainer anyway?  It's not like weight training is some super complex thing that takes years to learn.  At 12 years old I learned all the basic lifts and put together a program in an hour.  Most of the consultants, trainers, financial experts, investment gurus, etc, are feeding you information that you can learn online in minutes or hours.  It's one of the few problems with capitalism is that everyone needs a career or job to survive so people make these jobs and careers up so they can make money.

I went back to a gym after like 5 years of being away from it.
The same trainer had the same client (older woman) doing the same lame/slow workout, and just babble back & forth.

Some people need the companionship I think or they wont go.
