They're Vaccinated and Keeping Their Masks On, Maybe Forever

Whenever Joe Glickman heads out for groceries, he places an N95 mask over his face and tugs a cloth mask on top of it. He then pulls on a pair of goggles.

He has used this safety protocol for the past 14 months. It did not change after he contracted the coronavirus in November. It did not budge when, earlier this month, he became fully vaccinated. And even though President Joe Biden said on Thursday that fully vaccinated people do not have to wear a mask, Glickman said he planned to stay the course.

In fact, he said, he plans to do his grocery run double-masked and goggled for at least the next five years.

Went to Staples today and the blue-haired chick behind the counter was complaining about Wal Mart not requiring masks. Wal Mart, Target, Starbucks, CVS, etc. not requiring masks as of today.

How can things be just as insane in the USA as they are in Canada?  I understand that Canada and the USA are probably the two most culturally similar nations [and more and more, demographically similar nations, as Canada becomes increasingly more "racially diverse", with 400,000 new non-White citizens flooding into Canada every year, including 400K being the target for 2021...during a pandemic...with no jobs... ], but I always thought Americans would be quicker to protect their fundamental freedoms as enshrined by The Constitution and the Bill of Rights...but I guess not? 

It seems like both Americans and Canadians bought into the pandemic scaremongering at roughly equal rates.  That's too bad - but maybe it's my fault for idealizing Americans as being consciously concerned about their freedoms in ways that Canadians are not, when in reality, it seems that most people all over Western civilization [and probably in any relatively free societies anywhere else in the world] take their rights for granted, and basically assume that they will always be there, and can never be threatened in any way.
