California is now allowing hospitals to force COVID-positive asymptomatic staff to work as the state grapples with a surge of Omicron cases and staff shortages, as Governor Newsom deployed National Guard members to assist at testing sites.

'Hospitals have to exhaust all other options before resorting to this temporary tool. Facilities and providers using this tool, should have asymptomatic COVID-19 positive workers interact only with COVID-19 positive patients to the extent possible,' a statement issued by the California Department of Public Health on Saturday read. 

The news sparked outrage among advocates for health workers, who argue hospital staff has carried the weight of the pandemic on their shoulders and are now being put at risk, along with their patients.


'Healthcare workers and patients need the protection of clear rules guided by strong science. Allowing employers to bring back workers who may still be infectious is one of the worst ideas I have heard during this pandemic, and that's really saying something,' Bob Schoonover, President of SEIU California told CBS Sacramento.

Justice Sotomayor, a liberal Associate Justice appointed by former president Obama, exaggerated the number of severe COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations among children as she attempted to convince conservative Supreme Court justices that President Joe Biden's vaccine mandate for businesses should be enforced.

I hypothesised this back in mid 2020 and later saw empirical evidence supporting this. I'm not a virologist, just a random guy good at filtering out noise, but people whose job it is would have known this much earlier.

2 points I have pointed out previously in this thread

1. There is a good chance of having some cross immunity from a previous coronavirus infections (one of the viruses responsible for the common cold) The older you are the more likely you are to have had it.

2. As a group the elderly have almost as many asymptomatic cases as teenagers.

Taking those 2 points into consideration it's not surprising your mum in law barely any symptoms, but that doesn't mean it will be the same story for everyone. Also be aware that testing is inaccurate as fuck, so you can't trust that she really did have it.

There are 4 or 5 other corona viruses which fall under the "common cold" category. We've all had them as kids (mild cold, just like sarscov2 is for kids). When we get infected by those same coronaviruses again, they are once again mild colds at worst because your body already knows how to deal with it (unlike sarscov2).

For some people there is a degree of cross immunity. If you had one of those common cold coronaviruses in the last couple of years then there is a good chance your body will launch a far better and faster immunological response to sarscov2 than someone who hasn't. (Asymptomatic infections)

This isn't really something special or unique or some amazing new scientific discovery, but they definitely didn't want this news out there in the mainstream a year ago.

Seems like the Administration is hedging their bets. Why all of a sudden are they admitting what was considered "conspiracy theory" not too long ago?

 

Although for people who checked the CDC website could see the CDC has admitted that only 5% of the Covid deaths 800k are from Covid 19 alone. On avearge of the remaining 95% had co-morbidities. This is as recent as Jan 2nd, 2022.

"For over 5% of these deaths, COVID-19 was the only cause mentioned on the death certificate. For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there were 4.0 additional conditions or causes per death. For data on deaths involving COVID-19 by time-period, jurisdiction, and other health conditions,"

I wonder how many of the 5% were killed by the NIH/CDC protocal of puttting patients on the experimetal Remdesvire? If you are on Remdesvire there is a very strong chance that your kidneys will fail, and that's when you go on the ventilator. Most people do not make it out once on the ventilator.
