Looks good, think he will have one last crack at it, his gut will need to be improved though.
It seems like that was the only issue. Compare that to Ronnie Coleman in 2006...one could think that at his age at the time [42], and given his injuries to his left side at the time, that it would have been hard for him to improve that by 2007. And he ended up staying on gear all year, rather than taking his usual four months off, and looked even worse in 2007, and placed 7th.
In Phil's case, he narrowly lost to Shawn Rhoden [no pun intended], and Shawn was 43 at the time, whereas Phil was turning 39 a few months after the Olympia.
I don't see why Phil couldn't have come back...was his stomach distension really THAT bad? I understand he had a hernia, but was it just completely destroying his physique? I seem to recall thinking he looked very good, other than his stomach.
Was Phil mentally defeated after losing to Shawn Rhoden? Is there any reason to think he is done for good?
