It's not mass hysteria, these are preventive measures to stop the exponential growth of new infections throughout the world in order to flatten the curve. Right now, the curve is going up almost vertically.

yes, researchers and doctors do give a fuck. It's just that the virus is mutating constantly and we do not have an effective vaccine that lasts more than a month at best. Also, as I said a million times, death rates from coronavirus are 30-50 times the death rates of flu.

I mean its not like coronavirus is the only pathogen affecting peoples health. We have a perfect storm brewing and just like the spanish flu we have yet again a global crisis we are totally not equipped to deal with.

Already posted elsewhere that the US had Swine Flu(H1N1) , only ten years ,ago. The general public seems to have forgotten that rather quickly.

Covid19 mutated months ago in China. There are currently 2 strains. One is milder. We don't know yet which one is where or if both are doing the rounds in certain places.

Who knows?  Perhaps it's smart not to close schools and universities. Let children and teens develop some sort of immunity to it ,before a vaccine is found.

The Spanish flu came in two waves. The first ,in 1917, one killed the old and the weak ,like traditional common flu. The second deadlier wave in 1918 killed young ,healthy people in their millions.

It seems that the people who've had it must far outweigh the ones recorded, so the death % must me tiny. In the UK they've stopped testing, so the majority of people with mild symptoms won't even contact the authorities.
