WASHINGTON (AP) — "President Donald Trump has never been known for his patience or long attention span."

Translation for GOP voters - Donald Trump is dumb, and ill equipped for the job (or any job)

I've asked this before:

If not Trump, then it would've been Hillary, do you think that would've been better?

How?

Actually, I'd say that it is the weak-minded following the advice of this fool.

A clown like you is the perfect example. ::)

She would have killed the virus quickly and discreetly before anyone knew about it.  When people started uncovering what had happened with the virus there would be a new catastrophe to brush it under the rug.

Not really, the chaos from hospitals overloading would be insane.Car crash victims who need blood, pregnant women with complications, people with severe asthma attacks, kids falling in to diabetic coma, cancer patients not getting diagnosed or treated etc etc.Would soon turn to rioting, looting, complete breakdown of society.

strong point. I agree. People would riot.

300.000 people infected so far, hell of a hoax, just to discredit someone. but we still have bread so all is saved.
the virus will top 400,000 today. my state is on lock down  went from 33 cases to 679 in a few days. maybe we should bail out the oil industry.

if they didnt test anyone the number of cases would be just the people who died, the more they test the worse it looks

Wouldn't mind seeing the Swedes stick with their herd immunity strategy.
A few years down the line we might see how effective or not it was compared to complete lockdown.

"Swedish PM warned over 'Russian roulette-style' Covid-19 strategy

Health experts say attempt to build herd immunity is a ‘mad experiment with 10m people’

Unlike most EU countries, however – including its Nordic neighbours Denmark, Norway and Finland – it has not introduced stricter suppression and social distancing orders such as closing bars, restaurants non-essential shops and lower schools, nor has it placed citizens in near-total lockdown, as in Italy, Spain and France.

Sweden’s chief epidemiologist, Anders Tegnell, has denied the country’s approach is to rapidly build group immunity to the virus, a tactic seemingly pursued in Britain and the Netherlands until both recently changed tack after warnings that their health systems could be overwhelmed and death tolls would soar.

But Tegnell conceded to the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper last week that such an objective was “not contradictory” with what he described as the government’s core strategy, which was to ensure “a slow spread of infection, and that the health services have a reasonable workload”.

On Sunday night, Tegnell told Swedish TV the outbreak would “calm down” in May but return in the autumn. “It will be important how much of the population is infected,” he said. “It will determine what happens in the autumn.” Coronavirus could be stopped either by “herd immunity, or a combination of immunity and vaccination”, he said. “It’s basically the same thing.” "

Army, outside of the pregnant woman, wouldnt everyone you described die anyway, based on what we know about how this virus attacks the weak and that 80% of theo worlds population is going to be infected  unless there is an approved cure?

No as respirators and intensive care do saves lives, you do the big peak and many more die as the huge influx means they can't get support care through the illness. This is the thinking and reason to "flatten the curve"..

8003 new cases and 114 new deaths in the US

Peak number of cases is still 2 to 3 weeks away in New York

"The numbers are higher in New York because it started here first, it has a lot of international travelers and has high density, but you will see this in cities all across the country, and in suburban communities. Where we are today, you'll be in 4 weeks or 6 weeks.

Its not killing anyone who wasn't almost dead anyway, nature has been doing it since the beginning of time, it will send more fit and able people bankrupt than it will kill. The old and vulnerable should have been quarantined along with those that care for them. This virus is being used as an attack on capitalism not to dissimilar to climate change, yes people are dying, we all are, and 15% of people over 70 or 80 isn't that bad a number, your talking 15% of who get it, not 15% of that population, plenty of good people never got that far due to heart disease cancer, accidents, murder crime etc.  World needs to get a grip, this is becoming an economic crisis over a health one, its not the plague, its not killing young people or any taxpayers in the work place, its killing old sick people, don't abandon them quarantine them, but ruining the global economy for people whom were lucky enough to live to a ripe old age with only a few years to go is just madness.

a new federal health report says Americans of all ages have faced serious health complications amid the outbreak. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that among the roughly 12% of COVID-19 cases in the U.S. known to need hospitalizations, about 1 in 5 were among people ages 20 to 44. Anywhere from 14% to 21% of adults ages 20 to 44 with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, the CDC data estimates. Two to 4% of cases led to ICU admissions, and less than 1% were fatal.

But do hospitalizations really matter that much? That could mena a person checked into a hospital got some drugs and left. I mean the main concern was overrunning the ICU.  It's still around 2-3% of Covid-19 positive people aged 20-44 are admitted to ICU and 0% of 0-19 year olds.  That's probably around 1% for 0-44 year old people total.  That's really nothing to be alarmed about IMO.  It's still the old people who have vastly higher ICU rates that we need to worry about.

Great article on the UK and its lack of action resulting in todays fucked up situation

Quote
The first coronavirus cases in Taiwan and Italy came only 10 days apart. On Sunday Taiwan, which has deep cultural and economic ties to China, has recorded just 153 cases and two deaths. Italy has more than 47,000 cases and 4,032 people have died.

Leaders are now taking measures that would have been unthinkable weeks or even days ago, locking down tens of millions of people from Berlin to Madrid and San Francisco and pouring billions into rescue plans. But had they acted a few weeks earlier, they could perhaps have avoided much of the human tragedy and economic catastrophe they now face.”
