I just heard that unreported cases from Canada are heading into the USA. Who knows how true that is.

Army I thought this virus was previously contained to animals? Should we be suprised a dog can spread the disease?

That was from a person that told me that the had “connections”... I have no idea what that meant.

Checking now. What I can tell you (and it’s not that well known) is that dogs, given their genetic similarity to us as well as intertwined and symbiotic living with humans, can catch some strains of influenza (usually they will show lesser symptoms, but they literally can get symptoms such as sniffles and sneeze). This particular case in HK will need to be verified by epidemiologists. They could of course help spread coronavirus if an infected person touched or sneezed near the dog and it was then touched (patted) by another person who then ingested or inhaled the virus. (This is what we as scientists refer to as “environmental contamination” that is the dog not actually “infected” but has the virus present on some of its body due to environmental exposure).

I would not worry too much about how it’s transmitted, for as I have already said a huge % of population will be exposed to it. That is the reality. What you need to focus on are the steps I mentioned to ensure you survive once infected.

What does concern me about the headline of a dog “spreading the virus” is that there may be a panic reaction. Already in China there are hundreds of dogs (and cats) who have been “disposed of” by literally being thrown out of apartment windows. (I have sources who have verified this although it’s not widely reported).

Lol. Canine Corona virus is not the same as coved-19.  My dog gets a shot for corona virus every couple of years.

If they are unreported, how does anyone know they exist?

Interesting. Such is the problem with panic, people imagine, believe and spread all kinds of crap which only serves to heighten our worst fears.

Many ways. But basically common sense extrapolation. For example let’s say 10 people get caught with molly at a music festival. This does not mean only 10 people took the drug. Rather you use various metrics to extrapolate actual usage.

Cruise ships and airplanes are ideal breeding grounds and integrated infection incubation environments.

This is good news , now the threat from the pack formation of house dogs from previously dead owners is no longer present.... We can all look forward to imminent death from clovid-19 and no longer need to worry about being consumed by packs of house dogs....

Why the fuck would someone with this virus leave a country with free world class free healthcare to go to a country where they would be billed for treatment? Bullshit.

You are making too much sense for the coronavirus threads, please keep your hysteria at maximum and common sense at a minimum.

I have no idea. Someone just felt compelled to tell me that yesterday. He seemed very worried. I was just listening calmly, not quite sure of what to make of what he was saying

This is a great example of the "media hysteria".

Coronavirus is common in dogs.

One news outlet posts a story about a dog in Hong Kong, that tested "weak positive" for Coronavirus.  The article goes on to explain, "it's unclear whether the dog is actually infected.

Suddenly, every media outlet is reposting the same fucking story.  This shit is getting ridiculous.   ::)

Please stop posting anything Science related from the Daily Fail

Prof Jonathan Ball, a professor of molecular virology at the University of Nottingham, has responded to media reports of a dog in Hong Kong being tested “weak positive” for coronavirus.

“There is no evidence that the human novel coronavirus can infect dogs and it would be incredible for a virus to make so many species jumps in such a short space of time,” he said.

“We have to differentiate between real infection and just detecting the presence of a virus – these are very different – and the fact that the test result was weakly positive would suggest that this is environmental contamination or simply the presence of coronavirus shed from the human contact that has ended up in the dog’s samples.

“In truth this is incredibly irresponsible because the last thing we need to do is create mass hysteria about the possibility of dogs being infected, and therefore potentially transmitting this virus when there is absolutely no evidence for this whatsoever.”

Little update. Sources are telling me this is quite possibly a legit positive infected dog. But again even if so no need to panic and kill or abandon dogs. Humans are far more likely to infect others.
