If they don’t make it to 70 they ain’t healthy - unless death by accident/ murder/ Suicide
In fact dying at any age means you not healthy as if you were you’d carry on living,
Again unless death by accident/ murder/ Suicide

I think that no matter how "healthy" and in shape you are, you heart just wears out and stops working. I'm mean beating continuously for decades and decades it just wears out like everybody and everything. You don't necessarily have to have a specific disease. My Uncle was fine, got regular checkups and blood tests, and not on meds up until 78 when he just didn't wake up the next morning. His heart just stopped beating.

Chuck Norris is 80, Wonder how he's doing

He had that double heart attack a few year back... There is some heart damage I think, he is very puffy from the heart failure fluid retention issues.

One thing for sure. We get old and we die. No one escapes it. 78 is a normal life span. The goal is to be healthy as many years as you can. Some people live to be 90 but are weak and sickly their last 30 years. Much better to have vim and vigor then drop dead suddenly at 80.  Exercise and diet play an important role lowering the risks factors but in the end genetics rule concerning longevity. We all know the fat smoker who dropped dead at 85.  Always a smart idea to put the odds in your favor though.  The majority that take care of them self do better than those who don't.

I will be 78 this September. I can tell you that everyone starts falling apart when they hit about 60. The process accelerates after 70 affecting some more than others.
Few remain unscathed by 80 and the decline is greater after that age. Most of us won't make it to 90. Both of my parents reached 90 or more.
If you attend a recent school reunion you will notice that some look good but some look older than everyone else. So we all age at different rates.
One thing I have been doing over the last two decades is to try to trigger hypertrophy in some muscles. If I succeed then hopefully some growth hormones will
be released and I will benefit. So far this seems to be working even though I never do full body workouts. Just arms and usually only once a week.
My health is good and my mobility is fine. I can still do everything I used to do. I can put a heavy back pack on and take off on a hike by myself in the hills.
Great for my calves and legs. I really should get a safety location beacon in case I fall, etc. So far everything is fine. Some fat around the waist that is hard to remove!
Most people I know have lost some mobility and have aches and pains. A few get joints replaced, especially women. So, yes, it is hardly that much fun getting old!

I feel like it  all started going  downhill after 25 anyway, haha. That's when I embarked on a "career" and spent too much time in an office. Now I spend as much time outdoors as possible. Movement is the key to a healthy life.

Twenty five is very young to have begun going down hill. It is good that you figured out the key to a healthy life.

Good for you vince.

But you should train more than once a week and maybe some more functional training than arms.....

I’d say it is & if I had a choice how I’d like to go out, Fast asleep 💤 & Snoring Like my uncle did
Unlike the 87 passengers Hysterically screaming/ kicking & Crying on the Coach as it went over the Cliff. 😱

On a more serious not my mother died in her sleep - she was in bed & her husband was sitting next to her holding her watching TV, at 7.30 my brother said to her don’t go to sleep mum as your meds are at 8pm
At some point in that half hour she died - her husband didn’t notice & was still holding her hand when my brother went in at 8pm to give her meds & she was dead !!

Other than not being able to say all the things you want to say to someone you know is dying this is not bad at all. I am torn on which is better. Knowing and everyone preparing or the sudden one.

Two things. I was always a lazy bodybuilder. Always looked for the most effective and efficient methods. Plus I don't like all that hard work.

Who would do all that heavy lifting except crazy people! The second thing is achieving a stimulus for growth requires a very hard

effort and I just never feel motivated enough to train more frequently. Hard things are usually put off and I am good at doing that.

To train more body parts to make them grow is like torture. So I elect to do the very minimum required to stimulate some growth.

Btw, when you get large muscles then keeping them large requires some effort, too. So some growth happens just maintaining size.

Last week I did some leg presses. Always tell myself to do more legs and perhaps back. The computer takes most of my time.

I need more space so that I can set up more gym equipment. Then I will be able to do more things.

I'm keeping a close eye on Stallone. He's 73 years old now and still going strong. I mean, I'm sure he has some physical issues but overall he is still doing things most 30 years can't do. Of course, he has access to anything and everything that is available for health, fitness, and longevity and the discipline to stick with it.

Arms are fun to train and get the best visible results.  No one cares if you have huge lats and quads so why train them often if you aren't going to compete?  A man with large muscular arms is considered muscular even if he has fat on his gut.

@Vince - What is your masturbation protocol these days?  Assuming it's a given that you haven't gotten any pussy since the 80's (at best).  What are your sources?  Anything committed to memory?  Pornhub on the mobile?  Fellow Aussie Lee shitting on big, fat titties?

Why, is he your training partner, vocal coach or some shit?

Knew him when I was kid training at Pearls. It was Bill, Chris, Mohammed Makkawy who first taught me how to pose and in some ways train back in the 70’s. Because of them it’s always been a strong point even to this day. Ran into a few year ago at the Muscle Beach contests where we judge and sponsor.  Flame on

Handsome lad indeed.  Should have been doing soft core erotica in the 80's with Shannon Tweed and Morgan Fairchild.

In some ways, it would be nice to be 22 again. Most people that age enjoy really good health and as bodybuilders, they are just coming into their peak years. As for the trials and tribulations some of us had at 22, I'd prefer to be the age I am now. Although your appearance has changed over the years as one would expect, there is no mistaking that the 22 year old fellow in the picture is you. Looks like you furrowed your brows back then too. You should be proud of the fact that unlike some people, you certainly haven't let yourself go.

I agree Vince!

When we were in our 20s we felt indestructible, then in our 30s we started to become realists, in our 40s we really noticed that aging was a thing (not recuperating as quick etc, easier to become injured etc) and so forth

Update from Bill Pearl...

CAUSE FOR CELEBRATION

As many of you know Chris Dickerson fell at his home in March of 2020, and suffered a factured hip. After surgery, he experienced a massive heart attack and was put on a ventilator in the ICU. Following several days and failed attempts to bring him off the device, he received a pacemaker.

Surviving this, Chris was moved to a care facility for rehabilitation, where unfortunately, he contracted Covid 19. Again, he won another life-theatening battle.

Proudly, on August 25, 2020, Chris plans to celebrate his 81st birthday. Please help us wish him the Best of Good Wishes for that memorable day....and going forward.

If you would care to drop him a note, his current address is:

CHRIS DICKERSON
MANOR PINES
1701 N. E, 26TH STREET
RM. 367
WILTON MANOR, FLORIDA
33305
( He can Not receive visitors or phone calls. )
