Update from Bill Pearl...

CAUSE FOR CELEBRATION

As many of you know Chris Dickerson fell at his home in March of 2020, and suffered a factured hip. After surgery, he experienced a massive heart attack and was put on a ventilator in the ICU. Following several days and failed attempts to bring him off the device, he received a pacemaker.

Surviving this, Chris was moved to a care facility for rehabilitation, where unfortunately, he contracted Covid 19. Again, he won another life-theatening battle.

Proudly, on August 25, 2020, Chris plans to celebrate his 81st birthday. Please help us wish him the Best of Good Wishes for that memorable day....and going forward.

If you would care to drop him a note, his current address is:

CHRIS DICKERSON
MANOR PINES
1701 N. E, 26TH STREET
RM. 367
WILTON MANOR, FLORIDA
33305
( He can Not receive visitors or phone calls. )

Thanks, Ron

True, Frank Zane is close behind at current age of 78. All the others are living but much younger except for the three who died younger than Dickerson and Zane (Larry Scott, Sergio Oliva and Franco Columbo)

Yes, his vegetarian diet and him waking up at 3AM to work out 6 days a week put the odds in his favor. He has a brother. I wonder if he is alive? If you get a chance to read Bill Pearl's biography Beyond The Universe it's a great read. One of the few who made serious money from bodybuilding. His collection of antique cars he restored to perfection is amazing.

I doubt the vegetarian diet had anything to do with his longevity.  My grandfather lived to 104 and he ate meat for every meal.

People who also smoked everyday of their life while being fat that  lived to be over 100. It's about putting the odds in your favor regarding risk factors. A vegetarian diet keeps your arteries clean. Your genetics ultimately determines your health. What you have control over are the risk factors.

The studies I've seen show vegans live slightly longer than meat eaters.  This might not have anything to do with the not eating meat though.  Vegans are also less likely to smoke, drink, eat excessively, or do illegal drugs.  This probably has a lot to do with it.

What's the point of living a few months longer if you are miserable your whole life?  It's all a crap shoot after 75 anyway.

Yes, give me a big burger and fries and take away a few years is a fair trade off.

Vegans and vegetarians also eat far less than meat eaters. The one thing that has been proven to extend life is to drastically reduce caloric intake.

Yep, even periodic fasts seem to extend life.  People can also cut their meat consumption to say once or twice a week and probably see the same benefits non meat eaters get.  It would probably help Vegans and vegetarians to periodically eat meat as well for their health.  People want to go to the extreme on everything, all or nothing, and it isn't needed.

Are you saying that if you don't smoke, drink, eat excessively, or do illegal drugs your life is miserable?

He is very close to where i live. It's a shame with covid 19 can't have any visitors I would go and visit him. I met Chris when he was guest posing in WPB FL at a local show. Talked to him for a while just a really nice guy. Think he was hitting on me . :) :D
