In fairness to Trump, no matter what he said, he couldn't know how deadly the pandemic was going to become unless he was a psychic. He could have guessed that it would be worse than how he wanted to play it to the public and that's about it.

At this point, that he still isn't at least encouraging safe distancing and wearing protective gear is just plain wrong. His base looks up to him like he's some kind of God. Many of them will do whatever he supports.
