I went to one of the early Night of the Champion contests and saw the stars of the day in street clothes entering the venue. No one looked more impressive than Mike Katz.

Did Katz actually play in the NFL?

I can't find him in the nfl.com database.

I don't see him on the Jets roster for 1967 or 1968.

Was he on the taxi squad?

I thought he said he was drafted by the Jets and was injured in practice ( training camp.)
