One of the best photos I have seen of Shawn Ray was from a beach shoot that had him standing in the water about mid shin depth as a small wave washed over his calves and laughing....   That was the picture of genetic perfection.  If he had been 5 inches taller he would have wiped the floor with any guy out there.

He wasn't that short compared to some of the top guys. He was 5'7" (5'6" at the lowest). Vince Taylor was 5'8" at best. Levrone was 5'9" (same as Cormier). Dorian was 5'10" (same as Flex, Nasser and Ronnie....all legit, not billed heights). Dillett was the only top guy over 6'0" at the time when Ray was competing. In fact, Ray would be one of the tallest guys today if he were competing in this era of REAL manlets (where 5'7" is considered tall).

Here's Shawn and Kevin together today. Not much difference in height between the 2 of them.

attitude and confidence /ego aside,,shawn ray's presentation/polish/physique/he was photogenic as well.other than the quest posing pic that surfaced yrs ago close to his retirement,there wasn'y many if at all bad pictures of him in his competitive career meaning he looked good at  just about every angle bodypart wise.

There is something about Ray's physique that is unappealing.  I don't know if he was too blocky or narrow but I never thought he deserved the Olympia.  He looked like a midget even though he was average height for a bodybuilder at the time.
