Mask/gloves/hand sanitizer. Wipe all groceries down with disinfectant upon entering the home. Don't be in denial about Coronavirus. Because you will wind up on a respirator while I'm in my cellar on the weight bench. While you're struggling for one more breath I'll be struggling for one more rep.

Yep, we wipe everything down when we get home. We have an abundance of sanitizer, disinfectant wipes (3 cases), paper towels, TP, we even have 6 N95 masks.

I’m seriously so sorry too hear about this. How did the infection start and what’s your prognosis?
it was the strangest thing i was training at a commercial gym, my strength levels were their highest in 4 or 5 years {67 at the time] ijust finished off a long workout on a friday.  did 20 minutes on both a treadmill and bike to cap it. went home swam a mile like i do every day in the summer after i was done i got the shakes lasted for hours thought i was shaking my joints lose. i went to the emergency room and started my journey on the medical merry go round. started june 25 and i just got out of the hospital saturday with the heart valve.

true, i trained at home for most of 50 plus years and only recently joined a gym, which might have lead to the worst year of my life. starting june 25,  i haven't been able to train and have all kind of new incisions all over me. i'm months and maybe years away from feeling normal again if i survive the latest set backs. i'm not asking for pity, i could care less what a bunch of strangers think or feel about me, saying this with apologies to the good guys on here. i'm just saying maybe a commercial gym isn't the way to go for lifetime fitness.

Sorry to read about your tragic health over the past year. No pity, just knowing that "There, for the grace of God, go I". Hope you are on the mend now. Why do you believe joining a commercial gym had something to do with these health issues?

good read, you know your stuff this happened years back it was staph that time it necessitated 2 hip surgeries.  this time it was strep. not as bad as infection but it also ate away the heart valve causing open heart surgery..

never had them before when training at home. it may have been caused by overextending myself, i always enjoyed working out and being in close proximity to too many toys probably caused over training draining my immune system to zero.

It’s funny, after I wrote this my wife and myself went to grocery store (Ralph’s in my area) and really started observing how people act in the stores and observing the cleanliness of the stores. Floors are clean but not sure of their cleaning schedules (2, 3, 4x per day🤷‍♂️) then going to the freezer section, seeing how many people open and close the freezer doors, how often do people pick up a product, look at the label then put it back, is many adults, kids and children put their hands on the outside of the freezer or refrigerated section of say the meat section. I’m sure we can all add to this but I think you see what I’m saying.

Gym are full of germs, no doubt but their much more manageable to keep clean than a store.

Are you saying we should close the grocery stores?   ???

No, can’t remember which reporter it was that actually suggested that. Just saying stores are dirtier than most gyms

Okay, I don't understand the point you're trying to make.  I guess grocery stores are dirtier than gyms?

Gyms are a problem because people don't have their mouths closed.

Twaddle do you know how many hands touch a loaf of bread before it’s even put on the shelf?

I get it that a gym and a grocery store are 2 completely different environments BUT at a gym we are aware of how contaminated everything is. Items are constantly being touched and cleaned.

Consider that EVERYONE goes to the grocery store and they are not being constantly cleaned up after.

Up until recently you’ve probably never seen shelves or refrigerated areas cleaned regularly.  Likewise you’ve probably never properly cleaned everything packaged item you’ve brought home.

A supermarket is as much a Petri dish as a gym is.

Gyms being dirty is not the problem.

Gyms being dirty is not the problem.

The problem is a respiratory virus. I’ve been wearing a mask and disposable gloves in public  for years. I’ve been preparing for this moment.

I want to try to just get stumps and logs to chop wood, etc - in the time being.   I already to the sandbags, rucks, etc

You could get a job in construction and get paid to train.

You can leave your canned goods and boxed food products in your garage for 2-3 days and the virus will dissipate.  No need to wipe down.

Perishable stuff you can wipe if you have the desire before you refrigerate or store.

You asked this:
Okay, I don't understand the point you're trying to make.  I guess grocery stores are dirtier than gyms?

I explained why a grocery store is, in all likelihood, dirtier than a gym.

Sorry.
