I'll try. Many military members are separated from their families for months at a time. I haven't been in since 92 but back then my branch had remote assignments. These were 12 month assignments and typically you got 1 month during that time to return stateside and be with your family. Contrast with a 14 day quarantine and making the separation from family news worthy to someone in the military is a joke. Just like when I heard a walmart employee say it wasn't fair they had to go to work while others stayed home because they consider them essential. Any police, fire, EMS or Military person hearing that laughs.
I get what your saying, But, most people live in the moment. During that moment, being in isolation for up to a couple of weeks can be very difficult. As you say, in reality it is incomparable to being away from your loved ones for a year or so at a time. The person working at Walmart or any other essential business, only understands their own situation and believes it puts them at risk, which it does. The risk is greater for police, fire or EMS personnel because everyone their dealing with is sick, but unless you've walked in their shoes, you aren't likely to see that. Someone coughing out their viral germs into your face feels just as dangerous no matter where or how it happens.
