This is disturbing. The rise of totalitarianism.
« on: April 11, 2020, 05:56:27 PM »
I don't like the sound of this at all. It's the dream of every Leftist/Liberals in America to gain virtual complete government control. Everyone knows this doesn't happen overnight. It's inch by nefarious inch. They getting a big one here.

Democratic Governor of Kentucky, Andy Behere, announced that anyone "caught" attending Easter services will have their license plate numbers recorded and LE will show up in person, at your home, and receive a "notice" that they have to remain in their homes for a 14 day quarantine.

It's OK to keep liquor and grocery stores open but you are not allowed, under the force of government, to celebrate one of the holiest days in Christianity.

Not only government control but control over religious expression. What a coup for the Left.

They can get away with government overreach in Australia - the pussies gave up their guns in 1996 over a massacre in "Port Arthur" [which is the same name of the part of Thunder Bay that I live in].

The USA has 300 million guns owned by 80 million private gun owners.  There is no way that serious government overreach will last in the long-run in the USA.

I am concerned about what is happening now, but the USA is armed to the teeth, and the American government will not get away with unwanted authoritarianism if they try to pull it off.

It's 2020 USA, not 1922 USSR.

This is over simplistic view...^

That's why building fear and doubt is important, as the people are not as sure what is right and wrong regarding whether they should rise up against government overreach....

I agree very much with OP this is a big concern, how much of this erosion of individual liberties will governments try to hold onto after this, they always take some.. As a society we are headed in the wrong direction and after this its big time.

Oh, I'm not too worried. As much as America has been pussified and feminized over the last few decades there are still enough of us with balls and guns who will only take so much. It will start with mass protest and if the government tries a China and use force to express and defend our rights under the Constitution then you will see another real civil war. And I don't think for a minute that all of LE will support tyranny.

Very concerning. This thing, when it’s over, the ripple effect will go on for who knows how long. People will remember things that you are mentioning and wondering what the hell we’ve become as a country.

Are mosques and synagogues closed as well?

Yes, very clear thinking. I want to emphasize that this is not a "call for arms" moment but just another example of government representing the Left just moving inch by inch to further government control.

Just think of it. You go to church on Easter taking all the precautions wearing masks and observing all personal hygiene and then someone shows up at your door telling you that you car has been sighted as being in the parking lot in front of a church on Easter Sunday. They will give you a citation forcing you to quarantine yourself at home for the next 14 days.

How long will it be before they remove you from your home at the dead of night as they did to people in East Germany.

Very, very good question that I didn't consider. I wouldn't be surprised if it was enforced on synagogues but Muslims, whom represent the greatest threat of violent terrorism, are a protected group.

In Sydney we have had incremental restrictions on our freedom. At the moment most beaches are closed. Today they closed the walk from Bondi to Tamarama. Too many people out doing exercise.

We can go to the shops for most things but gyms, clubs, and all social activites closed or highly restricted as to numbers. We are allowed to exercise but can't go to national parks any more. No travel either.

They have closed most borders between the states. Only NSW and Victoria kept theirs open. Police are at all the other borders.

You are not supposed to go anywhere except for food, doctor, etc. So no outings with family. No going out to take photos even!

The government suggests these restrictions might go on for 6 months. The infection rate is going down but the restrictions will remain.

Things will soon become unbearable for most people. We can't go on like this for 6 months. It is like being in house arrest.

I really dislike when police are brought in to enforce policies. There is no discussion, only enforcement. People are being fined for

silly things. Just a matter of time before people say enough is enough!

Lately I’ve been saying this a lot.

At a certain point, a majority of people will simply stop isolating and get on with their lives, being as cautious as possible, but no longer willing to go along with government urging to live like an inmate.

And businesses will open back up and not give a shit about fines, etc.

When you’re all but bankrupt, your house is about to be re-possessed, and your family is starting to go without, who gives a shit about some goofy fines? Enough will do it that collecting on those fines will be next to impossible.

Agree 100%. Get ready for our militias to start bringing back some order. Notice these are happening in mostly (if not all) Dem ran states. They don’t want to reopen the economy and they want to continue to take away your constitutional rights

Choosing totalitarianism over essential liberty is the essence of self-inflicted, enslavement.  The mass media is inciting the memebots to turn us away from teamwork and into a political propaganda clusterfuck.   My most immediate concern is how this is an excuse to lurch into authoritarianism, totalitarianism and even global governance.

The nations initiating socialism-on-steriods such as the pretext/precursor of universal basic income , nationalizing healthcare with Trump forced to use the DPA, nationalizing many industries, etc.. Thus the governments will need to become even more strict about tax collection and capital controls. This is the perfect pretext to establishing the one world currency I’ve previously talked about, enslavement system for all to see on a public ledger (bitcoin).

I always thought the one world currency was conspiracy nonsense until this, it is now a legitimate concern I have stemming from this....

As said having police enforcing fines for being outside your home is a police state, virus or not.... It must end and sooner than later. 6 months is pure madness, people will have to stand up.

It is obvious that the governments have to be taken seriously. That is why the police are involved catching those who disobey the orders. Well, they justify this because those people could be spreading the virus.

So people can't go where they feel like even though this is a public holiday. Here in Sydney it is a glorious warm sunny Easter Sunday. What a bummer. Nicest time of the year and we are grounded.

If the public see and hear that people get fined for things they will stay home. That is what the government wants. I hope when this is finished that all those fines are refunded...well except for serious offences.

This is just the first run.  Look for these lockdowns to occur regularly to "keep us safe."  The next lockdown will be in Oct or Nov when Covid19 comes back for the winter, that is IF they ever stop the current lockdown first.

I can't even recall how many getbig badass, gun totin' conservative/republicans have said they would take up arms against the government during times like this. And, nothing. I have even seen people say this on social media, etc. And, nothing. Where are all these badasses now? haha lol. Sitting at home cleaning their guns. The government has literally told them they can't leave their homes. Why aren't they taking up arms? They seem rather content to listen to the government. This proved that all of these gun totin' badasses are a bunch of talk and would do what their government told them to do.

So, how many badass getbig, gun totin' conservatives have taken up arms against the government?

Getting on with one's life is going to be extremely tough when everything is closed--most businesses will continue to adhere to government regulations, as they wouldn't want backlash, which means people still won't be able to go to to work. And, if people gather in parks, they will likely be dispersed by law enforcement. So, how are all these people going to get on with their lives with no job to to go to, no movie to attend, no concerts, no sport stadium, no bars, no restaurants, no parks, no gym, etc? Shit, even if you throw a BBQ/house party, all it takes is one neighbor to call the cops and you have them arriving at your doorsteps, telling all of your guests to go home because of social distancing. One's life, to a great extent, is totally dependent on the government.
