People post on facebook under their real names.

They accept GPS tracking and all kinds of stuff in order to be able to install some moronic app on their phone.

They post pictures of their house, their family, the kids, their dog, their cats, their vacation online.

Their car, their brand new watch and everything else they can think of.

They make sure everybody knows when they leave the house, and where they go. They check in on restaurants, bars, cafees, gyms and tell everyone about it.

The difference is that none of the above are currently forced on anybody, and many choose not to participate.

Software is often based upon established work of nobodies who get fucked over.
Gaytes and Co. were great "business" folks so they made the right choices and decisions. Gates is nonetheless technically well read and has serious skills especially when compared to Jobs.

I remember reading years and years ago that the navy acknowledged they had bots on facebook who would routinely send friend requests to people claiming to be a distant long time friend from back in the day. Too far away to ever meet in person of course. I shut down all my social media on the spot and have never looked back.

The whole idea makes me nauseas when I think about it.
