yea I mean you can’t even do The “ father and son things” like throwing a ball/ teaching him how to swim/ how to fight / defend himself the kid will have no dad at his wedding or his football games ... speaking as someone who grew up without a father it’s pretty important and life changing

Yes, it's very easy, you'd want to be (at least 40-ish, 30-ish preferred) when getting kids, so you can be there for them physically as an inspiration and rolemodel (playing ball with them, learning them how to wrestle etc) and not just as a grumpy ol man giving advice from a chair

Some of us have had many more injuries than Gere, and will probably not be as spry in our 70s

You'd want to give the children at least 20-30 years before heading off in the horizon, which Gere wont be able to.

What I can say is that being a parent, a grandparent and in the past few years, a great-grandparent is very rewarding. It would be a shame to miss out on this. But then, you can't really appreciate what you never had.

Will Gere be 90 is the question?

When the kid is 10 years and where a normal 10 year old have their father help them and play with them (soccer etc) , Gere is at that time 80 years.

When the kid is 15 and it's even more important to have a Male Rolemodel / Fatherfigure, Gere will be 85 and sit in his rockingchair with a cane!

With the same logic there is no point for kids to be alive that grow up in a home without a father.

All kids who lost their fathers in war, they might as well not been born at all etc.

Bullshit. Man has been hoping for a cure for aging since the dawn of time. Ponce De Leon died looking for the fountain of youth to bathe in. The human life span hasn't changed in thousands of years and it never will. All the plastic surgery, botox and GH in the world isn't making anyone live for hundreds of years.
