Look at the average suburb house in the US compared to Russia. Their free education is worthless because very few careers pay anything in Russia. A middle class guy in the US can own a 3000 sq foot house with a new car , pool and a boat. A middle class guy in Russia lives in a shit hole apartment with his wife, parents and grandparents. The only thing I will give the Russians is that they are practical. During the space race in the 60's pens didn't work in zero gravity. The US spent a lot of research and money into making a pressurized pen. Russians took a pencil. When looking into making a new military rifle the ArmaLite engineers designed a rifle with such tight precise tolerances that the accuracy was amazing but it jammed when it got a little dirty.
