Other-worldly.
Man....I loved me some Larry Joe Bird. Hated the Pistons, haha. The midwest work ethic appealed to me as a kid. Huge Celts fan.Supposedly he hurt his back shoveling gravel in his mother's driveway - wasn't nearly the same after maybe '88. Was hit and miss up to '91 but could have had a few more good years into the mid 90s if not for that back.
Those Pistons were bad asses. I was watching a show about Len Bias just yesterday. Imagine if he had panned out for the Celtics? He would have been hitting his prime right around the same time as Jordan and he'd have helped Larry Bird and company fight for the top spot in the east for a couple more years. What a sad, sad tale of wasted talent/life.
I can still name the whole Bad Boy team...they were a perfect team for a city like THE D....dirty. They came up as the Celts were slowing down from that '86 run and you could just see they were going to peak as a superior physical team and win a championship.Len Bias and Reggie Lewis were just two unfortunate situations for sure.
It’s funny. I’m not a big basketball guy, but I was watching Larry Bird highlights a few days ago and was amazed how good he was. Total stud
Crazy to think that Bird was the last great white American player, and he's been out of the league almost 30 years. We are due for another great white hope!
Where have you been. Dirk has been in the league for over 20 years and just retired last season Luka has been phenomenal
Never forget just how good Larry Bird was
They were dope to watch as a kid but the weirdest collection of players ever. mchale, parish, johnson, bird, just weird. boston matches golden state 3s for 3s but murders them inside the paint. detroit just flat out mauls lebron. maybe he gets 1 ring in that area but not 3.
