Jay cranked out some an easy 12 reps with 405 on the incline. He even paused a bit at the bottom on the later reps. He could have easily do another three more.

hate to break it for you but that's about 150 kg/338 lbs.

Yellow colored plates are 15 kg(look at the yellow handles). It's one 20 kg and three 15 kg, each side.

Jay did however rep out 405 for 10 or so reps when yonger if I remember right

That would make more sense but how did you know? What kind of plates are that? Who makes them? I didn't even know they had plates with "handles"?

But again, as Bevo said, when you go back and look at the countless vids Jay has out there and how he trained, something didn't quite add up. Good instinct Bevo and good catch Maxx.

it's pretty much international standard colors for weights. Used in the Olympic games aswell and serious weightlifting comps..

Eleiko has these color codings aswell

They don't go all the way down and touch their chest for the same reason they don't fully lockout. Continuous tension, TUT, Time Under Tension. It's actually harder that way as your muscles are always under tension. When you touch your chest there is a slight pause/rest as well as the bit of the bounce you get coming off your chest. Jay actually pauses a bit on the bottom position, still supporting the whole weight, for a couple of reps which takes all momentum out of the movement. Just pure muscular contraction. It's not reps per se that causes inroads into the muscles but the actual time under tension. Those reps are about as good as you can get for bbing purposes.
You can say that, but Jay never had the chest of Arnold or Lou Ferrigno, that chest that's so massive that it just simply sags because there's so much muscle mass in there, also he never had the chest of Ronnie, who also always went all the way down, Jay did have amazing back, arms, legs, etc, his only true lagging body part was his chest, he improved his chest to a degree, but he never had that monster chest look, that droopy look, where the chest literally sags, like a balloon filled with red meat

It seems like nobody today has the pec development of Arnold and Lou, and to some extent, Serge Nubret. Franco had an exceptional chest but he didn't have the balloon-like "hanging look" of those guys. Except for Coleman; Heath, Jay, Dorian, Haney...none of the Olympians had the type of chest you described no matter how they benched. I'm not sure why that is as the rest of the body parts are so much larger today than in those days, especially in the quads and delts. Maybe it's an illusion. With the delts and arms much larger now it makes the pecs look smaller in comparison.

Jeeze, Coleman's arm, even just hanging relaxed was insane.

Yeah it's kind of like an optical illusion, Dorian Yates never had the chest Ronnie had, for example, some say Dorian had ''weak'' arms, but that was just an optical illusion too, his arms were 20'', but because his torso was so much larger, it almost looked like his arms were lagging
