I saw Philip Michael Thomas at a gas station in Vero Beach Florida.  Someone asked if he was Philip Michael Thomas and he said he was.  He seemed cool.

None of them were cooler in the 80s than dong johnson.i still don’t know why any of those guys were considered cool to begin with.

A Steve McQueen bowel movement had more cool than Don Johnson ever had.

Your two fathers would be so embarrassed they’ll leave you home before their next Gay Pride Parade.

Correct

Steve McQueen and Paul Newman had their time, but in the 80s, Cool Don took over.

In the 80s neither of them could compare with The Don.

There are a number of films to mention, but just forget every cop film featuring a car chase you've seen and watch Bullitt.

It’s 2020 and James Bond is still trying to be Steve McQueen.

Ah, come on RBC, with the possible exception of Brad Pitt the other three are solid. Who can forget McQueen in that '68 Mustang 390 GT Fastback and who trained and threw hands for real with Bruce Lee? And Redford and Newman in "The Sting" and "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". Forget about it.

What's cool about McQueen? Fuck brah, just his whole life which ended way too early (50 years old). I read a bio on him decades ago and he didn't have it easy. His stepfather would beat on him so bad that he ran away from home at 9 years old! and hung with a street gang doing petty crimes to survive. At 14 years old he joined the circus! His mother got him back and his new stepfather again beat him so bad throwing Steve down a flight of stairs where Steve told him that the next time he laid his hands on him he'd kill him. After that, he was sent to a boy's home for the "incorrigible". At only 16 he held various jobs working in a brothel, carnivals, and Lumber Jack until he joined the Marines at 18. He made a living competing in motorcycling races. After he made his fortune in movies while still in his forties he gave Hollywood the finger and he went back to racing motorcycles. He was also no slouch with race cars and considered going pro. He once made Lee, who was jealous of Steve, pee his pants when Bruce allowed him to drive Lee's brand new Porsche taking it through the winding roads on Mulholland Drive at breakneck speed doing a 180 in the middle of the road. He was also a pilot and flew private planes.

His nickname in Hollywood was King of Cool and I don't think anybody else ever made Bruce Lee cringe in fear.

Swayze did most of the stuff on goodrums list too.Mcqueen wasnt as cool as johnson at his peak, largely because Don was right place right time, the clothes, the cars, the location, the synth music, neon lights, drug culture, weather, club scene, speedboats etc.

Johnson was/is no slouch and I'm a big fan but he didn't have the range and diversity in all of life like McQueen nor did he have the obstacles Steve had to overcome. Plus, when push comes to shove McQueen could kick his ass. That's what matters in the end.
