I have a similar friend.  He's literally been to almost every country in the world and he's a very non-judgemental person.  He said India is the biggest shithole and he tells everyone to avoid it.

quite a lot fo the street sleepers are migrant workers with homes/ families in the sticks but they make little effort to live in anything other than a shanty
