So strange to see America now having the same problems as South Africa.

Just as in South Africa, these problems have existed for centuries, perhaps since the dawn of mankind. Sad, that humans have progressed so little in their ability to relate in more positive ways to one another. We began as tribes and we still exhibit aggressive tribal behaviors. Someone wise once told me that humans won't experience harmony until we have a common threat, such as hostile extraterrestrial beings.

Perhaps it is an unfunded or individually funded independent movement. Presently, we are a more hateful society than we were 4 years ago.

People see what they want to see. The masses you speak of are really just a small percentage of the population which seeks and gets a lot of attention for controversial issues. I'm not opposed to the media, but by its nature it distorts reality. A few hundred people out of thousands and even millions do not represent the majority of people.

Having said this, the black lives matter movement has been embraced by a huge spectrum of folks. Someday we will look back on this time and see how the wrongful death of one man inspired millions of people to want some change. The murder of George Floyd will be remembered as the catalyst for a restructure in law enforcement and for recognizing racism and bigotry as cancers in an otherwise civilized society.

Those Getbiggers who will most certainly resist this sea-change in perspective until their dying day will be viewed as dinosaurs.

I'll remember the the violent protests, looting, businesses burned, cities destroyed, police precinct/cars burned, random violence, murders, soaring crime rates, etc. It's a sad time for this country.

I've had this sign posted for a few of years now. You will notice that it is more inclusive but the Black Lives Matter is the third line on the list of issues mentioned.

White lives are privileged which gives them a big advantage in this country. We don't need a sign reminding people of what they already know. In the big picture I am a member of the human race so in that sense all people are my people. On a more personal level, "my" people are people who are my family and friends.

There are no lawn jockeys where I live as best as I know. But if there were they could be any color/race, most commonly black or white skinned, usually wearing a red jacket or vest and hat with white pants. They were originally a welcoming symbol to guests and provided to those on horseback with a practical and novel hitching post. since most people drive cars instead of riding horses they don't serve much purpose. The "Jacko" lawn jockey has a very interesting and somewhat touching back story if true, which is debatable. Lawn jockeys of any color have gone out of fashion much like pink flamingos and garden gnomes.
