Coronavirus Live Updates: Global Tally of Known Cases Passes 10 Million

Vice President Mike Pence asserts that increased testing explains a surge in cases, but experts and evidence say otherwise. Taiwan holds a Pride Parade in support of those who can’t.

RIGHT NOWGov. Greg Abbott said the virus had taken a “swift and dangerous turn” in Texas, noting that the percentage of coronavirus tests coming back positive had risen to 13 percent from 4 percent in a month.

Good news.

PLANTATION, Fla. – In a period of ten days, Jackson Health System in Miami has doubled the number of patients they have seen coming through their doors.

Carlos A. Migoya, president and CEO of Jackson Health System, says there are some challenges.

A lot of these people are younger and about 40 percent of them are coming in to Jackson for other reasons,” Migoya said. “They’ve ended up in a car accident or other things, and as we test every patient that comes in, we have found them to be (COVID-19) positive. So they are not necessarily as sick as some of the other ones and many of them are asymptomatic.”

One should be skeptical about governments pushing  for regulations to prevent a pandemic.

On the other hand, covid-19 is a chinese lab virus let loose and the long lasting effects and consequences of it even for people who get over it are sometimes not that innocent.

Scarring of the lungs, damage done to the heart and potentially other organs and overall unpredictable nature of it because it affects people so differently.

Flu, sars and many other diseases originate from asia most of the time and china is one of the best disease breeding grounds.

Still no one suggest hitting china financially for its actions and we adapt to a situation caused by a communist regime...

Some US states return to previous restrictions to slow surge of coronavirus cases

CNN

At least 12 states have hit pause on their reopening plans as the United States sees a surge in coronavirus cases across the country.

With July 4 celebrations approaching, officials are trying not to repeat scenes from Memorial Day, when thousands flocked to beaches, bars and parties while experts cautioned that crowds could lead to spikes in cases down the road.

In Texas and parts of California, bars were directed to close back down, while beaches in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach were ordered off-limits to the public during the upcoming holiday weekend. In Florida, on-premises alcohol consumption was suspended in bars statewide.
The risk of keeping bars open is exemplified by a bar in East Lansing, Michigan, where 85 people contracted Covid-19 after visiting early this month.

Isn't it amazing that as more testing is done the more cases are found?

What's your point? Are you suggesting if we'd "slow the testing" less people would have it and COVID-19 would go away? Honestly, no matter how many or how few you test, the same number of people would have the virus....you just wouldn't know it which is just enough to give a lot of people a false sense of security.

In Michigan, 80+ people tested positive after going to one particular bar. Knowing this would make any reasonable person question whether having a drink at a public place is really worth the risk. Of course if none of those people had been tested, they and more folks would be hanging out drinking at that bar and possibly others and not think twice about it. Like the saying goes, ignorance is bliss....that is until it makes you and/or other folks you care about sick.

Which means if they tested for COVID-19 they would have no idea they have it and would therefore take no precautions to insure they aren't infecting others with the virus. Again, "ignorance is bliss" even when it's causes harm to others. "What I don't know can't hurt me." It might hurt other folks but heck, that's not my problem.

Good looking out. The Caribbean where I’m going is still opening to US tourists July 1, you just have to have a negative covid19 test 72 hours prior. Glad to see a getbigger like yourself made some calls on my behalf to keep things open. Many thanks hoss.

So, when you guys say Covid is just a flu, you mean it's nothing or that it's bad? ???

Wow! Positive tests! More testing = more positive tests. Big fucking deal. Death rate continues to decline and Covid is being proven to be little worse than influenza.

Who gives a fuck, meaningless without further data and context for said data.

COVID-19 is a virus. All influenza's are viruses. Saying COVID-19 is just a flu is redundant. Not all viruses/influenza's are equal. Some strains of the flu virus are worse, as in more deadly and contagious, than others. It has been suggested that viruses are one step ahead of any vaccine against them meaning they mutate faster than we can develop vaccines. Had there been a vaccine available early on against COVID-19 more than half a million might still be alive and some percentage of 10.2 million people would feel healthier today.

Flu viruses mutate so new vacancies are always needed. Coronavirus and sarscov2 don't mutate anywhere near as fast as flu and it doesn't look like it will mutate in such a way that a new vacancies will need to be continuously pumped out like with flu.

WHO warns coronavirus pandemic is speeding up as countries ease lockdown rules: 'The worst is yet to come'

The coronavirus pandemic is accelerating around the world as many countries that reopened their economies see a resurgence in Covid-19 cases, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization, said Monday.

"Although many countries have made some progress, globally, the pandemic is actually speeding up," he said during a virtual news conference from the agency's Geneva headquarters. "We all want this to be over. We all want to get on with our lives, but the hard reality is that this is not even close to being over."

More testing equals more cases. Many of these new cases the people didn't even know they had it. The number that matters is hospitalization and deaths. Those are rising in just a limited amount of concentrated areas. The majority is going down. Can't wait till November 3rd when this crisis is over and people can get back to work. I also want the $900 buck per week unemployment to end so these young people causing chaos will be forced to work instead of hanging out.
