In Texas, officials announced 119 deaths on Wednesday, surpassing a daily record for deaths in the pandemic that the state had set only a day earlier. In Arizona, more than 200 deaths have been announced already this week, and the daily virus death toll in the state reached higher than ever. Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, South Dakota and Tennessee also set single-day death records this week.

The seven-day death average in the United States reached 608 on Thursday, up from 471 earlier in July, but still a fraction of the more than 2,200 deaths the country averaged each day in mid-April, when the situation in the Northeast was at its worst.

I do, my friend Tommy died of it back in mid Apr but he also had major underlying health issues that compromised his immune system. Think he was just about 62/63.
Out of the close to 1,000 ppl I work with, altho I don't know nor speak to all of them, the ones I do work daily with don't know a single person who's had it. A few ppl I speak to online have had family members die of illnesses like major heart disease or cancer and on their death certs it's listed as, you guessed it, covid19,  which further proves these numbers the media comes up with are either fabricated or highly embellished to further push this "pandemic" on the masses.
Not saying there is no covid but the thing is being played out to someone's benefit. There's no way a country like China that's been eating every type of animal for centuries and a month or so before this whole thing blew up there were dozens of videos of ppl eating bats in China, then all of a sudden corona comes out and linked directly to eating bats...it's bs.

BioNTech and Pfizer  are right on the heels of Moderna  in the race to potentially develop a messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine against SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, BioNTech CEO Ugur Sahin predicted the companies will have enough data for a vaccine to be ready for approval by December. The companies are still trying to figure out which of multiple vaccine candidates should be taken into a 30,000-patient phase 2/3 clinical trial that is scheduled to start this month. The timeline is pretty close to Moderna's, which has indicated it expects data by Thanksgiving from a yet-to-be-started, 30,000-patient phase 3 clinical trial.

Pfizer's CEO, Albert Bourla, has an even more bullish timeline for the duo's vaccine candidate. In an interview with Time, Bourla said, "We should be able in the September time frame to have enough data to say if the vaccine works or not. And to submit that to the FDA. So for a potential approval in October, if we are lucky."

Coronavirus deaths take a long-expected turn for the worse

NEW YORK (AP) — A long-expected upturn in U.S. coronavirus deaths has begun, driven by fatalities in states in the South and West, according to data on the pandemic.

The number of deaths per day from the virus had been falling for months, and even remained down as states like Florida and Texas saw explosions in cases and hospitalizations — and reported daily U.S. infections broke records several times in recent days.

Scientists warned it wouldn't last. A coronavirus death, when it occurs, typically comes several weeks after a person is first infected. And experts predicted states that saw increases in cases and hospitalizations would, at some point, see deaths rise too. Now that's happening.

It's consistently picking up. And it's picking up at the time you'd expect it to," said William Hanage, a Harvard University infectious diseases researcher.

According to an Associated Press analysis of data from Johns Hopkins University, the seven-day rolling average for daily reported deaths in the U.S. has increased from 578 two weeks ago to 664 on July 10 — still well below the heights hit in April. Daily reported deaths increased in 27 states over that time period, but the majority of those states are averaging under 15 new deaths per day. A smaller group of states has been driving the nationwide increase in deaths.

California is averaging 91 reported deaths per day while Texas is close behind with 66, but Florida, Arizona, Illinois, New Jersey and South Carolina also saw sizable rises. New Jersey's recent jump is thought to be partially attributable to its less frequent reporting of probable deaths.

First Seattle volunteer in human COVID-19 vaccine trials says she feels 'fantastic'

The race to develop a COVID-19 vaccine is heating up globally and right here in our area. In Seattle, we’ve got a lot of companies and volunteers doing their part to try and help.

“It’s been 16 weeks since I had the first dose," said Jennifer Haller of Ballard. "I feel fantastic."

On March 16, Haller, a 43-year-old a tech startup operations manager, became the first person in the country to get injected with the experimental COVID-19 vaccine.

It’s developed by bio-tech company Moderna and National Institutes of Health.

“This vaccine uses messenger RNA," Haller said.
