Over/under 200lb areas in gym.
« on: April 19, 2006, 08:03:16 AM »
I have to thank Dan-O for this brilliant idea.  To avoid the kind of situations mentioned in my "Monday Gym Story" thread he came up with the idea to seperate the gym into two areas....one for 200lb+ members and one for 199lb and below.  Kinda to seperate the men (200lbers) from the boys (sub 200's).

I discussed it with the manager of the gym where I train and he likes the idea.  Should be implemented within the month.  He's going to move all the BOSU balls, stretch tubes, smaller DB's (might go chrome on them), squat bar pads, etc... to the Juniors side (his name for the sub 200's).

More info to follow.

The only problem with that idea is I'd rather look at sub 200lb women. I hope you have a different system when dealing with them.  ???

this is an extremely good idea, it will keep all of the gay ass little sub 200 pounders out of the big men's area, very good.

Someone being over 200 doesn't mean they can lift anything.

Do you really want some sweaty 400lb fatass asking your help with 135lb bench presses?

Ladies are allowed wherever they want in the gym.  No restrictions.

That won't bother showstoppa, he doesn't spot anyone cause it might injure his back.  ;D

Sweet!  This is an idea whose time has come and more gyms should start implementing this policy!

It's a good idea in principle as I would be one of the fortunate ones to fit into the 200lbs or above category but I think your gym manager is a tool for actually considering it in his gym.

Where's his business sense?

What's next - blacks on one side, whites on the other?

Good idea.  I'll run that by the manager.  A fat caliper measurement would be a good idea.

I made sure the manager knew that Dan-O from getbig was the man who suggested it.  He said anytime you are in town you can work out for free.

This doesn't make much sense. Take a guy like David Henry who is around 190lbs or Lee Priest who competes at around 195-198... these guys would be categorized as "boys" according to your classification while they are two of the best bodybuilder around today. On the other hand I know plenty of "husky" guys who hover around the 240-260lbs mark but don't look impressive at all or can't lift worth a damn.

190! You're not that tall though, 190 isn't bad.

What division is that in your sport/hobby?

Most guys over 200 lbs in the gym are fat asses.  Fact.  Go ahead and segregate yourselves with the lardasses.  It's definitely fine with me.  Take those 200lb bitches with you too. ;D

There should be a seperate area for all those who spend more time in the gym worried more about what everybody else is doing than they are with their own workout. Guys like sarcasm that spend all that gym time eyeballing some 145 guy ::)
