However, I have a strange feeling, that even if people who protect themselves with a gun, and didn't break the law, you would still be against it.

But the black woman inserted race into this when she made racist comments and threatened to attack the couple and the young girl started the usual "you are racist" which is usually a dog whistle for blacks (and some whites) in the vicinity to attack the couple. The couple seemed calm and tried to de-escalate and leave. Even then the black woman continued to be hostile. The white woman (who seems to be pregnant as well) might have genuinely feared for her life especially after the threats of violence. Having seen all the recent rioting, looting, violent "random" attacks on elderly women and white and some black folks it would not be unreasonable to fear she would be attacked.
