The city of Seattle held a training session for white employees aimed at teaching them how to “practice self-talk” that “affirms their complicity” in racism and about “undoing” their own whiteness.

“The City of Seattle held a training session for white employees called 'Interrupting Internalized Racial Superiority and Whiteness,'” the director of the Center on Wealth & Poverty and contributing editor at City Journal, Christopher Rufo, tweeted Monday. His tweet thread described what a public records request suggested about the training, which the city confirmed to the Washington Examiner is provided by the Seattle Office for Civil Rights.

Rufo added that the diversity trainers encourage white employees to "practice self-talk that affirms [their] complicity in racism" and urge them to work on "undoing your own whiteness” while also providing employees with a flow chart meant to illustrate how white people “cause harm” to people of color.

According to Rufo, the city has declined to provide the names of the diversity trainers, the program’s budget, or video from the session, which took place on the Microsoft Teams platform.

Several political commentators responded to Rufo’s thread, criticizing Seattle officials for the taxpayer-funded, white-only training. “These 'training sessions' are taxpayer-funded cult indoctrination sessions, with all the coercion and abolition of independent thought that the word 'cult' implies,” journalist Michael Tracey responded.

This is an excellent post and a brave move considering the narrow mindedness of a lot of folks who post on Getbig. It is impossible to avoid the influence of external input when forming opinions about almost everything. Not sure it rises to the level of being brainwashed though. People who are brainwashed are also brain dead, IMO. You and your wife don't fight because you are compatible and respect one another's opinions. This has nothing to do with race.

As is often said, it is better to avoid talking politics with someone unless you are like-minded. This is more true right now than ever, because so many people who are politically at opposite points are also very adamant about their views to the point of being willing to fight over them.  It should not be this way.

Maybe it's time you step out of your comfort zone. Many of the people you describe are 'salt of the earth'. Their opportunities are often limited no matter how hard they are willing to work. Expose yourself to the rest of the world, a leg up from someone who has made it financially can be invaluable.

Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with staying in your comfort zone. But if you aspire to  something more don't let your friends and family hold you back.

I had absolutely nothing handed to me - nor did I get a “leg up”. I have colleagues who came from the inner city, with drug addicted single mothers.
