Some gyms are open despite lockdown orders
« on: July 08, 2020, 10:52:38 AM »
I have been able to go to various gyms that are supposed to be shut. Glad to see the gyms grew balls and told their governors to go fuck themselves. Cops should not enforce any of this shit. They've been treated badly by their politicians so why should they back them up? Just let the gyms stay open. What are the governors and mayors going to arrest the gym owners at gun point? Take their keys? Good luck with that!

I did a great chest/back workout this morning.  Face diapers are optional at my gym.  I did not see 1 person wearing one.

“What gym?”

That's the situation here in Ontario, unfortunately.

A friend of mine found one near my work.  It's in an industrial area, no windows, open 24/7, barcode access, no front desk, no showers, loud hard music, 8,000 sq/ft, lots of equipment and free weights, dumbbells up to 200lbs, no socialites...only hardcore types, previously owned by a known IFBB Pro.  It's across from a police station, yet hasn't been shut down.  I've been training there for a month.  Wish I would have found it sooner, but I can't complain.  It's expensive, but worth double to me.  Gyms here may not ever open at this rate.  Even if they do, I'll hang onto this membership for a while just in case we get more bullshit lock downs.

My gym has been open now a few weeks. Phew.

It has posted requirements for distancing, etc., but no one gives a frick. Doesn’t ask that masks be worn, thankfully.

Gyms everywhere, like businesses in general, should re-open and remain open.

Loose lips sink ships!

Drive around and look for gyms that are open. They are out there.

Cops probably workout at that gym.

Yes it is bullshit. Just wipe down / clean your hands and the equipment and keep your distance. Obviously I don't want to get Covid or make a loved one sick but I need to workout for my own health and sanity. I have hand sanitizers in the car and clean my hands often in the gym. I wipe down stuff I use before and after. Well I don't wipe down all the dumbbells lol!

Gyms still closed by me.

Sounds like it's going to be a complicated procedure to go when they re-open.

Book appointment with a possible time limit, masks compulsory, have temperature taken at entrance, fill out health form, no towels allowed and must wash down every machine used and social distancing.

Social distancing won't do a thing in a gym.  Think about how much your breathing and exhalation rate is increased during hard physical exercise.

Covid is mainly a hyped up, fear mongering hoax.  Influenza kills the same amount of ppl, especially if you're over 70.  There is no way we can know if the case numbers the MSM gives us are legit, they're probably not.

TPTB are deliberately destroying the US and world economies.  Why are they doing it?... that's up for debate.
IMO, there are multiple reasons:
1. To bailout a financial system that was about to collapse anyway.
2. To bring ppl to their knees in order to gain total control of everyone and everything.
3. A last ditch effort to try and make sure Trump is not re-elected (since Russia-gate and impeachment did not work).

You make this seem as if it is in multiple states. Which states would those be?  Gyms are open in Oregon so it is a non issue here.  During the shutdown when businesses were closed here a hair salon owner in Salem opened her shop, going against the Governor's directive. She was threatened with arrest and she was fined $14 grand by OSHA.

Change your routine around and train at the least busy time so as not to inconvenience yourself by catching the kung flu, it will effect your recovery at least for a few days.

I cancelled my gym membership. These are some of the stipulations:

—make appointment
—only allowed to work out for 90 minutes, then gym closes for deep clean
—have to wear mask
—temperature at front desk before entering
—no bags allowed in. Just towel ashes water
—social distancing

If my gym thinks I'm working out with a mask on when it's 95 degrees out (like today) they're f*cking nuts!
I can accept all of these other requirements (as long as they aren't enforced too tightly), but the mask is too much.

My local gym requires making appointments and wearing face masks, wiping down equipment etc. I am fine working out at  home! >:(

So far I have not experienced what it’s like to workout with a mask on since I cancelled my membership but I can imagine it being very tough.

Well my state is one of those that's told gyms not to open - not going to get specific lol!. So I figured some gyms in other states that are closed would have the same approach. And I say cops should not enforce it. They were thrown under the bus by the politicians and should just not enforce it. Some cops workout at these gyms also so they need them open for their own workouts.

I have not seen any of this BS. Only thing one gym does is check your temperature. No need for appointments etc. Are you kidding me? Join another gym!

He has really grown his franchise. I see there are quite a few in many states.

It’s been there since 2011 so I’m guessing it might be one of the first franchises here in So. Cal.

If I were in your situation, I would cancel my membership(s) too. As a senior on Blue Cross MedAdvantage, I don't pay for gym memberships. Also as a retiree I can work out anytime I want when the gym is open. So far, gyms aren't requesting you make an appointment nor are they limiting workout time. My main concern is that because masks aren't required while exercising, there is likely a high level of germs circulating through the ventilation system.
