You can tell it was designed and built by a builder who didn't want to pay architecture fees because it has numerous dark areas and a severe lack of feeling of space. Reception hall should be large and light with an impressive staircase rather than the small dark area which looks like it belongs in a council house.
Plenty nice features too and the grounds are impressive. Good for Eddie that he's doing well.
Yep I agree with this. The house looks impressive outside and then you go inside and the spaces are all either massive like the kitchen or too small like the foyer, hallways and doorways etc. It could have had grand wooden cased openings etc. Instead there's tacky wallpaper, nasty rugs etc. I would rip out all those rugs and do hardwood floors. Then they can add area rugs to soften it. Area rugs can be easily replaced or moved outdoors and cleaned.
I will say the guest room upstairs with the dormers looks really nice. Clever how the dormers cut into the space. And they are going for a more modern, subtle color palette which is 10 times better than the wallpaper border at the top look! WTF?! I think Eddie and his wife are going to improve the look of the interiors greatly. Let's give his wife credit she's probably got some input in these improvements. He did good for himself that's a huge house even by USA standards. In little England that's a freaking castle!
