If round 3 was judged solely on striking Hollaway edged it, being MMA take downs count and Alex smartly took him down and the striking was close enough so he edged it, no doubt max won rounds 1 and 2 a lot clearer than Alex won rounds 4 and 5. But this fight was closer than the first fight, but i don't really see a third fight being any different. They both need to fights other contenders before going at it again, if its to happen.

Masvidal looked out of shape, Usman as well, think Covington with his naturally higher stamina would have got them both. Usmans cardio didn't look like it did against Covington where i feel it was the difference for him. Burns is a real chance against him, with his good wrestling base and heavy right hand. I see Covington Masvidal being good fight, but give covington the edge .

I had Volks 3-2 i felt he had the 3rd round, only slightly but that's enough plus clearly the take downs were scored.

I felt that again the commentating was biased like the first time. They call all of Holllway's shots but leave a stack of Volks uncalled. At one point i counted 7 landed head shot/jabs in a row and the commentatods called only one. The same happened in the first fight. I do feel that is partly to blame for why so many feel Holloway was robbed.

Still, that is 2 fights now.where Holloway was taken the full 5 rounds, HARD!! This 2nd fight he had a full camp and came in like the classic Holloway, on point. Volks has earned his champion status. Just wait, Volks next fight he will ruin that fighter.

Usman has the clinch and win by footstomp to perfection. Sucks to watch but he wins. Dana would be pissed  ut he wasn't about to slam Usman given how big they wanted the event to be.  Masvidal won even more fans. Glad he got a pay day. The dude is legit entertaining.

@Mayday & Honest - nice assessments. I  had Volk 3-2 as well. Close, close fight. Not sure they'll fight again. Mainly because I can't see Volk making 145 too much longer. Max doesn't have the pop at 155 so I think he'll get the belt back at 145 after it's vacated or if someone else beats Volk. Want to see Brian Ortega fight again. If his striking has improved he's a threat.

Usman is like a much better version of Woodley. Everything Tyron does Kamaru does better. He had another gear when he needs it. Didn't need it vs Jorge. Showed it vs Colby. Gilbert has to be next. That looks pretty close to 50/50 to me. Jorge vs Colby as co main makes sense.

I know UFC is well known for their drug testing policies.  But the top guys just stay one step ahead of the testing.

And what makes you think that MMA trainers have advance knowledge on gear use and timing? What makes you think they have access to the top minds in pharmacology that are one step ahead of UFC testing policies? Don't kid yourself. The UFC has a very sophisticated testing program and fighters are caught all the time. When you consider that the most sophisticated athlete in the UFC regarding hormone and peptide use, along with the resources and access to the real top guys that know their stuff, plus this athlete was a huge cash cow and if the UFC and Dana White were protecting and covering up for top athletes it would be him, that him being Brock Lesnar, you will get a better perspective that it's not that easy for a fighter to be juiced up to a "mind blowing" degree and get away with it. Even back in the early days when testing wasn't as sophisticated as it is now they still found traces of Winstrol in Tim Sylvia's blood that kept him out for over a year.

Fighting in Abu Dhabi doesn't negate testing. They have fought there before. They all get tested no matter where they fight.

You're right about Usman. He has tiny legs. You don't notice it as much in those long board shorts style he wears.

Max is still a legend, I hope he can get a few wins under his belt and take it to a third, but the division is stacked a lot of great fights out there for both Alex and Max, they both need to fight and win a few times if they are to run it back again. Then Max will have to try and do more, tough on for him  as the more aggressive he is, the more Volks seems to pick him off especially with lower leg kick like the first fight, he was much better second fight being less aggressive with closing the distance, just needs to fight like rounds 1 and 2 for another round or two and its his, easier said than done.
