Is this going to become the new stupid trend in contests?
I probably see it at least 2-3 times a year, been going on for 20+ years. It is cool if it is a part of your life, just like they do at basketball, hockey or other games out there in the past.
What’s your favorite part of taking pictures of muscled men covered in oil? Do any of the bodybuilders wonder why you’re taking pictures of them? Do they wonder “who is this schmoe who has never worked out?”
Your fantasies are too much for me. As a photographer, my job is to cover the event, to capture the moments for that contest or expo, for the magazines, or web sites, or for the promoters. Competitors who have worked incredibly hard to reach that physique like pictures, as well as fans out there. Favorite part of taking pics at events are backstage of physique, whether guys or girls, or just candids. You need to stop thinking about your days of going to male strip clubs, with guys covered in oil. It is not like that backstage, and never has been since I have been photographing it. It is a place where competitors get ready for the stage. In fact, anyone like that, in glistening sparkling oil like you like, I frown on taking any pics because it isn't cool.
But my favorite part.... is taking pictures of bikini competitors backstage. Sorry, just is. Some of the best bodies in the state are at these contests, and I am fortunate enough to be able to take pictures for the public and competitors to enjoy. Plus, you get to meet some incredible people, and occasionally, some big celebrities (Rock, Stallone, Tito Ortiz, Shaq, Vince Neil, Busta Rhymes - just to name a few)
