The mini-split which heats and cools the second floor of my home quit working last week. The repair guys checked it out today. Apparently a spider had short circuited the main computer board. Expensive spider! The replacement will cost about $600, plus the cost of the service call, which was another $100. If you or anyone you know has a mini-split, it is advised that you take off the cover and air blow it out to clear spider nests every so often. Also spray an insecticide to kill any spiders being careful not to spray the unit itself (coils). Around here, late summer and early fall is when the spider population explodes.
